Usually, when it's time to replace the water filter for the refrigerator, I just click the "reorder" button here on Amazon and get the Samsung version sent right to my door. I have always found the price of the filters to be incredibly cheaper here when compared to that of my local stores. I was quite shocked to see how much the Samsung filters had gone up since my last purchase and like many others, went on the search for an alternative. There are a lot of variants of these filters and after an hour of reading various reviews and studying submitted photos, I decided to take a chance with the Waterdrop version. The thing that concerned me the most was that many of these filters have slight deviations in the "teeth" design that allows the filter to twist and lock in place. When the Waterdrop filter arrived, I compared it to the Samsung filter and they appeared to be identical. The refrigerator that I have is a Samsung RFG297AA and it appeared that the design, size, and locking notches (teeth) would fit perfectly. The filter went on without any problems and I began to run water through it to blow the air out of line. I cycled about a gallon of water through it and did not observe any problems with water pressure, unclear water, or leaking inside around the filter itself. There was no observable taste difference in the water either. I've been using the filter for almost two weeks now and everything appears to be going well. No leaks have been detected around the filter but I did heed the advice of some reviewers and kept the original "O"rings from the Samsung filter just in case. The current price difference between this particular water filter and the Samsung version is incredible. I usually just stick with the original accessories but the lower price for this filter seemed to justify some experimentation. So far I've been pleased with the performance of the filter and will definitely come back for more upon continued success. Update 3/19/17: The first one lasted about 5 months and I experienced no issues. Ordered a replacement, went through the same procedure of cycling about a gallon of water through it to clear air out of the water line and to observe anything unusual (water color, leaks, etc.). I was quite miffed when the replacement water filter I purchased for my Samsung refrigerator doubled in price over the course of 6 months, so I went searching for an alternative. I stumbled upon this one on Amazon and decided to give it a chance since it wasn't a huge financial commitment. I gotta say, it has turned out to be a good buy and I am extremely happy with my choice and purchase. It went in without any problems, and has not leaked at all since installation. Water tastes the same as what the previous filter produced, and it was not cloudy when first installed (I did run 5 gallons through the filter before actually drinking any water from the refrigerator though). The teeth on the end of the nozzle do look different then the teeth of the filters I've used in the past with the Samsung logo on it, but the filter did seat into the holder and has remained there for the past few weeks (when it was installed) without any issues. Would definitely recommend this as a replacement water filter for your Samsung refrigerator if it is the type of filter that your refrigerator requires.
