SOLID - Strong stitching, Velcro, and seams throughout - Metal buckles instead of cheap plastic — secure and premium feel - Evenly balanced weight distribution - Comfortable fit with wide strap adjustment range - Feels durable and suited for long-term use - Adjustable weight SUSPECT - Fully loaded 20 lb version may feel heavy for beginners - Slightly pricey, but justified by quality EXPERIENCE This vest feels built to last. All the stitching, Velcro, and buckles look and feel heavy-duty — and the metal buckles are a standout upgrade over the usual plastic ones you see on cheaper models. The weights came pre-installed, which I actually prefer; at 20 pounds fully loaded, it feels substantial in your hands but surprisingly comfortable once strapped on. I’m about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, athletic build, and the vest fits me well with room to spare. The strap adjustment range would easily fit broader chests too. Once tightened down, it sits snug and doesn’t shift around, even when moving, jogging, or hiking. The weight balance feels right — not front-heavy or awkward. My wife tried it too and liked it, so I might end up buying a second one. The material feels strong, durable, and capable of handling active use without stretching or tearing. It’s comfortable enough to wear around the house for chores or during workouts to crank up the intensity. For about $80, I’d call it a fair price — not cheap, but the quality and versatility matches the cost. VERDICT Solid Buy. A rugged, well-balanced vest that feels premium in both construction and performance. Great for adding resistance to workouts, hikes, or daily routines — the kind of gear you buy once and keep for years. PRO TIP Tighten the straps until the vest hugs snugly to minimize bounce during movement. For beginners, start with short wear times and/or low weight, and build up — even walking the house in it can make a difference. If you share it with someone else, mark your preferred strap position with tape for quick readjustments, or buy a second for that friend that needs to get off the couch, and go hiking together. I'm using the 20 lb version and have been using it mainly for walking and power walking. Once I strap it on; it stays put, no bouncing around, no sliding up my neck - even when I pick up the pace. The weight feels evenly distributed, so it doesn’t dig into my shoulders or feel lopsided. It’s snug enough & not suffocating - I can still move my arms naturally. I like that it adds just enough challenge to my normal walks without feeling crazy heavy. If you’re looking to level up daily walks without a bunch of fuss, this does the job. Read more
My husband walks the Huskies with a 50 lb. ruck, and is very positive about the effects, so I took the plunge. No way I will ever go that heavy, so I started with this 20 lb. pack, and honestly, I have it at 10 lb., which feels about right. It is very easy to remove and replace weights. Quality is good, the stitching and material seem sturdy and durable. The Velcro is strong, and holds well. The buckles are heavy duty, and it does not seem that they will rust. My biggest complaint is the shoulder straps. Unlike your typical backpack or military ruck, this does not have a waist belt where most of the weight should rest. It is 100% on your shoulders. That being said, the shoulder straps on this should contour very well to your shoulders distributing the weight as much as possible. These do not. When I am standing straight up with the vest on and loaded with 10lb, my husband can easily put the tip of his finger in the space between the outer edge of either strap and my traps, while there is no gap at all on the inner edge. When he tried it on it was much more noticeable with his build. This means that the weight is not loaded evenly across that 2 7/8" strap, but almost entirely on the inner 1" or so. Over an hour ruck, it goes from noticeable to uncomfortable to distracting. I had hoped to start upping my load, but not until I figure out a way to fix this. The waist straps are adjustable, but they just keep the vest from moving too much, they do not transfer any load to your waist. I keep them as tight as they will go which is okay for walking, but would be way too loose for running, HIIT, or an obstacle course of any kind - the pack would be bouncing all over the place. This is probably only an issue for a really small waist, and I'm gonna try to come up with a fix for that, too. I really like the pouch in front, it's great for a flashlight for those wintertime walks with the Huskies after work when it's already dark. It might seem expensive, but the weights are most of that cost. My scuba weights are around six per pound, which would make this vest much more than it is. These are steel, not lead, and less expensive, but this vest is not priced too high in my opinion. Bottom line? One design flaw in the shoulder contour, but other than that this is a quality build Read more
