The unit never worked out of the box. I contacted customer support who instructed me I should take it apart myself and send them videos of the internal components. It’s under warranty but would have to pay the shipping if I wanted to get it fixed which was half the cost of the unit. Very disappointing. Read more
It seems to work pretty well, just a few annoyances that knock it down to 4 stars. 1 being that when you turn it on, the fin/fan generally opens all the way up and shoot air straight to the ceiling. We like to angle it downward toward our bed, as we use it in our bedroom. When you turn it off, this fin closes. So you have to turn it on, hit the fin button, wait for it to get to the position you want and hit it again. This quickly gets annoying. The other item is the location of the drain plug (not to mention their are 3 plugs on this, making it very difficult to get the correct plug for simple drainage). It is a the absolute lowest point possible, making it almost impossible to put any kind of pan or anything under it to catch the water, especially given it is sitting on carpet. Read more
This replaced a new unit from another brand which failed after a month. I’m using it to cool a one-car garage/workshop in hot mid-Texas. Have it ducted into the attic through an unused access panel on a 15 amp, 120v circuit (turn a/c off when using power tools). Easily drops the temperature 20 degrees running on a google home schedule. Good purchase. Thinking of buying another for our enclosed patio. Read more
Not sure if I got a defective unit, but it is draining more condensate than any other portable unit I have ever had (3 different other ones between family and me). Like a quarter bucket in 2 hours. It also leaked on my floor. I have a ticket in to support and am considering returning. The positive is that it really does cool the room, and it’s not loud. But the leaks are a non-starter. 73 degrees in the room and the unit's set point is 66 degrees, yet it remains on and pumping heat. I emailed their support, no answer yet. Will update if that changes otherwise it's going back as defective Read more
I was impressed as soon as I opened the box and every subsequent step. This is a very good " high quality" product in every sense. My experience has been all positive. I would buy this one again. Read more
Update: the compressor now sounds like a helicopter, does not seem to run long enough, and it has almost completely stopped draining excess water in the middle of high heat and humidity. I can no longer recommend this product. I do not think this was built to last. My previous portable ac of another brand lasted for 6 year an this one was 8 months tops. I own the 1050XP and based on my shopping experience, I want to provide clear answers to a couple items that were important to me. The lowest temperature setting is 60 degrees F. There is a continuous fan option that I use at night that prevents waking up when the AC starts and stops. The moving louvers can be stopped and frozen in any position you desire. I use the gravity drain to make sure that the AC never stops. Very little water (far less than my older unit) comes out. It does seem to be effective with evaporating most of the water automatically. But not completely. The noise level is about the same for any other in-room portable AC. None of them are quiet. The compressor does have a higher pitch noise than my previous unit (different manufacturer). But I only notice that on occasion, usually when I walk into the room. Never while I am sleeping. It seems like a well made unit. Read more
