Added two of these to a NAS/Media server. Great value and good performance for a consumer application. These drives are *loud* you can hear them whirring and crunching away whenever data is being written or accessed. This is not a problem for my use case because the server lives in a closet, but if you will be sitting next to these drives all day it bears consideration. These drives have been on almost constantly for a year and a half, 12k hours, and are still posting great scores in crystal disk; no issues. For 35 bucks it's really hard to go wrong. Read more

I've bought about 50 of these over the last 2 years for a consulting firm. They are cheaper than the gold standard and also provide similar function, (7200RPM, 64mb cache). I've had a few of them fail on me and become slightly noisy. If you are going to compare this to a WD off the rack, this is not the same level. For now, the product is 5 Stars. It worked out of the OEM box. This is a White-Label Barebone drive. So it includes nothing else but just that. These White Label drives are rebranded, so you will end up getting random brand drive, it could be a Western Digital, Seagate, Samsung, or Hitatchi drives. The latter is what I got in a pair. I ordered 2 to replaced a pair of Seagates 3TBs that failed on me a few days ago after under 1 year of use in a Raid 0 setup. Only this reseller, DBSKY is offering this deal and so far they've been exceptionally amazing in customer service. As the previous two hard drives I order were from them as well. They've replace/refund my complete order from a year ago. That's awesome customer service there. Don't expect these drives to be reliable, so don't use it to store important data, but you can count on DBSKY in taking care of you should you run into trouble and you're still covered under warranty. Update 01/12/2017: I ordered another 3TB from DBSKY. The drive works without issues. I even filled it all up with 1.3GB left on the drive. The drive ran silent during my file transfer of 2.72TB of disposable media files for backup. Took around half a day of data transferring at 140MB/s. Read more

I grabbed one of these drives for my media center PC. It ended up being a Seagate. When I connected it to the computer, Windows 10 would not detect the drive although it showed up in the computer's bios. I had to boot from a Linux Live Drive to finally gain access to it. It showed up as unconfigured without any partition table. I was able to format it and set it up from within the Linux environment. From there it showed up in Windows 10 as expected. So the drive itself appears to be fine, and the value here is good. I'm not sure if other people will run into the same formatting problems that I did, and it ultimately may not be newbie-friendly.
