I have been wanting to do yoga for about 25 years, but had some serious reservations. I had done extensive research in the benefits of yoga, and initially looked at it as possible addition to my weight training. I didn't know how to get started, so my wife and I decided to go to a "beginning" yoga class at a gym we belonged to. when we arrived, we spent about 10 minutes in some type of ritualisitc meditation/chanting session. We then began the with the first pose (mountain pose). There was no actual instuction, we were just supposed to imitate the instructor and the other attendees. The second "beginning" pose was a shoulder stand....a full inversion! I looked at my wife, we rolled up our mats, and left. I tried other classes over time, which were unfortunately essentially a version of the first class. I had done a lot of research, read (and still have) many yoga books. I obtained and watched numerous videos. All I was able to tell for sure from years of research, was that I would never be able to actually do yoga. I was not (nor would I ever be) flexible enough to do anything resembling yoga. I knew it was supposed to work. I knew how/why it works. I just never thought it would work for me. After 25 years, I came across Body by Yoga, specifically their book "Yoga Ummm". Suddenly, I could see a flicker of possibility. Maybe, just maybe...I could do yoga. The book comes with the Yoga Fix program as a bonus. My 66 year old eyes are not able to reliably follow something on a 3" square screen, so I purchased the Yoga Fix DVD. What a game changer! Suddenly, after watching the first video....I was able to do yoga! Dean's cues and demonstrations are exact, easy to follow, and absolutely on point. This is a five day program. The length of each workout is 20 minutes. This is a perfect length for beginners, older folks, and really....anyone wanting to learn yoga! Dean makes yoga completely accessible to anyone. I still weight train three days a week, and the Yoga Fix program's 20 minute length makes it perfect to support and augment that. I do the Yoga Fix program five days per week. My flexibility is improving with every workout. My balance is also improving. Balance and flexibility are two major concerns (or if not....should be) for people in my age group. This program is fantastic, and doable by anyone. So, after 25 years, two total knee replacements, numerous bone-on-bone joints, and many injuries....yoga is finally accessible to me! It feels good to do, and it is working! It is exactly what I wanted from yoga. No chanting, no spirituality, just solid scientific, bodywork. Thank you to Dean, and the Body by Yoga team! You have given me a gift. If anyone has ever wanted to try yoga but felt they couldn't, believe me....you can! Give this a try. Read more

Dean is an excellent instructor and I like his style / method. This a good set of workouts, and what I expected. Excellent instruction that walks you through what to do, why you do it, reminders to engage, emphasis on correct form and technique, modifications for those that need it, and how to get more out of it for those with greater skill. These are a good fit for everyone, but especially those that appreciate the reminders and education. The workouts move at a good pace. Stack them or pair with other workouts if you want more. Video quality is fine and sound is good. For whatever reason, I don't like the videography of Dean's short intros (just the first few seconds of each workout) - I wish that Dean would look at the camera when "speaking to me" ... but that's just my preference and it has no affect on the workouts. Love the workouts and instruction, and this one is a good addition. Read more

I have tried quite a few of the Man Flow Yoga programs and they have been pretty difficult, but not impossible. The beginner programs have even been a little more difficult than I anticipated. I understand that this yoga is different from the traditional yoga that most are used to, but that's my feedback to programs prior. This program, on the other hand, has been everything I hoped it would be. It addressed the problems we create by sitting all day at work for those of us who work at a desk. My favorite thing about these workouts is the technique coaching that Dean gives. He really does a great job at teaching the alignment of poses and has you use a block to ensure alignment. My second favorite thing is the unconventional exercises that Dean has you do that many yoga programs don't incorporate. One was being in Child's Pose but lifting one arm up at a time and holding it there to really strengthen the shoulders and back. The rest you'll have to find out by doing the program. One thing to note is that these workouts focus heavily on strengthening your hips and core. I had never done hip-specific exercises the way I have with this program. Not that this is a bad thing, but I enjoy doing beneficial exercises for my hips that I probably wouldn't have done prior to this. Though this workout is marketed to beginners, Dean does show how to make some postures more difficult for those with more experience. My only complaint with the program is doing five workouts per week. This is not because I can't make time for them, because the 20 minutes is PERFECT, but simply because of my soreness between days. I feel like, for me, I carry the previous day's soreness into the next workout, and I feel like it would be better to take a day in between or do a 2 on 1 off kind of schedule. Others may not have this problem, and I'm sure as I get used to it it'll subside. All in all, this program is the best beginner's workout ManFlowYoga offers, and I highly recommend it to newcomers. - Josh Read more
