Customers find the knife sharpener effective, particularly with Henckels knives, and appreciate its ease of use, especially when sharpening JA Henckel knives.

This little gadget is great. I love that it has both the American and the Asian cutting sharpeners. I took it to my sisters house to sharpen all of her knives. She didn't even know I'd done so but realized I had after cutting though a really thick bone in roast. Its a good weight and easy to hold in place while sharpening. Oh yeah the roast was delish! I purchased this because I needed a new quick ,easy to use, convenient knife sharpener. As you can see in the photo, I sharpened a variety of knives including 4 Henkel/Zwilling, 1 Global,(2nd from left) 1 generic utility, and a Wusthof Dreizackwerk (3rd from right) and 1 Henkel cleaver. It put a pretty good edge on some knives that have seen a good amount of abuse, as well as daily go to knives. Western or Asian sides both worked well. The Santuko knife is a Henkel and took a good edge from the Asian side, as did the Global. The Henkel knives and the Wusthof(which is a very hard steel) as well as the generic utility knife all took a good edge from the Western side. These knives are ALL at least 20 - 30+ years old Read more

There's a lot of different types of these sharpeners to consider but I found this one has the best balance between versatility, ease of use and suitable for kitchen drawers. I have both regular and Asian knives and having a coarse and fine slot for each while keeping the whole thing easy to take out of a drawer, do a quick touch-up on a knife and putting it back is essential. Feels solid, great grip, overall a winner. Read more

I was very excited to get this in the mail because I have a very nice J.A. Henckels 7" santoku knife that was desperately in need of sharpening. Pro's: -Instructions are on the package and very simple to understand and follow. -This sharpener took literally moments to transform a tragically dulled blade into a scary-sharp razor; I could literally shave my face with the knife. Con's: -The biggest drawback is that mine had a sizeable chip break off of the coarse sharpening stone while I was sharpening the above mentioned 7" santoku FOR THE FIRST TIME. I did not use excessive pressure while sharpening, so this was unexpected and rendered the sharpener at risk of dulling the next knife to be sharpened on it due to no longer having a consistent flat surface on the stone. It's true that nothing lasts forever and that sharpening stones do eventually wear out, but for the cost of $30+ it's not very economical to putter out so quickly. -This style of sharpener makes it challenging to get the last 1.5" (the tip) of the knife sharp because you must apply moderate pressure to create friction and sharpen the knife, so when you reach the end of the knife and the blade exits the v-shape sharpening stones, the knife suddenly comes free and due to downward pressure, it nicks the plastic portion of the sharpener. So, in order to prevent this from happening, you must cease applying pressure to the knife at the end of the blade, thus it doesn't sharpen the tip very well. I will be exchanging this in hopes that the chip that broke off the first time using this was merely due to a manufacturer defect. Read more
