Four and a half stars
This is a lovely matcha set. I studied chado tea ceremony in Osaka, and while I'm far from a master, I can make matcha at home. I really like the shape and glazing on the ceramic bowl and the stand for the bamboo whisk. The whisk is nice and fairly easy to clean. The bamboo spoon for matcha powder looks great with the set (it's not easy to get a precise measurement, obviously) and the provided strainer is very helpful. I have to knock off a half a star because I couldn't get a wholly intact ceramic stand for the bamboo strainer. The piece isn't necessary to make matcha, but adds to the cost of the set, so I was My first set arrived with it completely broken into about 10 pieces, all inside the box, and the replacement set arrived with a small chip on the bottom, but the chip wasn't inside the box, so it must have happened during manufacturing. I'm hoping it won't make it harder to keep sanitary or weaken it structurally. Read more
