This is such a great AC unit! I received this last month and it has outperformed every portable AC unit at my house. I have owned 6 since moving 10 years ago and the average lifespan has been 2-3 years per unit. I check to see it the unit needs emptied every couple days and their is always very little to no water. I have not had to really drain the unit, which my previous one would fill up with water every day and it cools the room its in fairly quick and maintains the room temperature for most of the day with high temperatures outside. Not at all worth it. It's a total disaster. The instructions on set up are not clear so there are pieces that have no explanation. Since I've never had a portable one before, i didn't understand what the tube was for & there was zero explanation on the fact that there is a little drain hole that you need to ensure the plug is put into. I learned what that was for when my floor & rug ended up soaked. I plugged it, but draining it is almost impossible. You're supposed to attach the tube to drain it but there's no way to unplug the stopper & attach the tube without spilling water. And in order to drain it, the tube has to somehow be able to point down, but there's no way to do that bc the drain hole is on the floor. It's a wet gross mess. Also the output thing is awful. Look at it wrong & it comes out of the sash in the window or out of the back of the machine. "Portable" is a lie bc any movement of the machine causes the duct vent tube to fall out of the window or the machine. The sash doesn't have a way to fit your window unless it's really big - if you need to make it less wide, the inner panel of the sash covers the output hole in the outer part of the sash which makes it impossible to connect the duct output tubing. Not that it matters bc even if you get it in there, it falls out. It's supposedly big enough for the location I have it, my living room, but it's not despite being gigantic. It's better than the outside but it's not nearly worth the money I spent on this. Don't waste your money on this unless you want to constantly be dealing with water draining issues & duct venting tubing constantly falling out of place & it only doing a mediocre job of cooling. Blows cold but ejects so much water its nuts. We have others that blow as cold that barely drain as much water in a week as this will in 1 day. It never saves the temp set if the mode gets changed. Read more
