★★★★★

It needs to be about half the size it is, operate comfortably.

I try not to buy anything with an “I” or a “pro” designation but this is an essential tool. The Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball has been my tool of choice for mousing around for about two decades. As software and the internet have evolved, so have my needs in a trackball mouse. A scroll wheel, a middle mouse button and a wireless option are essential and missing from the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball. The Adesso iMouse T40 has these features and more! But it’s not ergonomic at all. It doesn’t fit in your hand so you have to hold your hand above it to use it and switch between the wheel and the ball. The wheel is in the way behind the ball when it should be in front of it. If it were smaller or if it had the body of the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball, it would be the dream trackball mouse, a perfect trackball tool. Trackballs are not for thumbs! And neither are mouse wheels so The Adesso T40 is one of the only options available with the ball on top where it belongs. After a week or so with a non~trackball mouse, I get that mouse shoulder arm wrist thing that hurts. Even with The Adesso T40 I have to be constantly conscious of how I’m holding my hand over it to prevent injury. It’s not comfortable to operate at all but it’s literally the only tool available that I know of with the features I need, so I use it. I would love to hold an upgraded model of the Adesso T40 about half its size and with the wheel in front of the ball, out of the way and with larger AA batteries. I have such a love hate relationship with this tool, but, in the end I reluctantly give this tool all five stars because it needs to exist as an alternative to the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball and all those things that will break your thumbs. The evolution of the trackball mouse must continue. Read more

Does not work

Jewel KenningtonFebruary 20, 2026✓ Verified purchase

This mouse does not work. When you roll the ball, the pointer does not move, or it sticks, or it goes in a different direction than you moved it. I sent it back. It is also too wide for a small hand and is not comfortable to use. Read more

Absolutely decent mouse to replace Logitech Trackball Marble

AlexeiOctober 31, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I've just received my order. I was little bit scared by some negative reviews to this mouse. Some reviews were from very long ago, so I believe some people may have had some problems with early editions of this mouse. But by now I assume manufacturer made some improvements, because as to my personal experience, I can say that I had no troubles at all with the mouse. Installation process was quick and easy, software is intuitive and functional. Buttons, scrolling speed and sensivity is totally programmable depending on using style. Mouse itself is well built and sits comfortably in my quite average-sized hand. Scrolling is butter-smooth in any direction. The only con I can mention is that trackball exposed a little bit lesser than on my old Logitech Trackball Marble (see the picture). So the touching surface of the ball is not big enough and moving the cursor at he same DPI requires an additional moves of my fingers. But I think the various and easy switchable DPI option on T40 will compensate the difference when I get used to it. It was my first impression after few hours of use and so far I really like Adesso T40. I will update my review if I face any issue later. Read more

Slow response and not comfortable to use

SpacemonsterJanuary 23, 2023✓ Verified purchase

Got this and batteries were dead. Installed the required software and after 20 minutes trying to fine tune this for gaming I gave up. Spinning the ball fast left to right caused the pointer to sit in the middle of my screen, shake then slowly creep up to the top of the screen. No matter how I set the response and mouse sensitivity it just wouldn't work. I have larger hands and the size is not comfortable. I never made it to the button bindings because I couldn't get this to work right. I'll keep it as a spare but wouldn't buy this again. Read more

Actually a Very Good Product, Under-Publicized, Under-Documented

Rocket_Ron22July 23, 2020✓ Verified purchase

I initially got a defective product, returned it for a replacement (just cancel and order another one, speeds up the Amazon process immensely). The replacement works very well This is a very sophisticated product, hobbled by an amazing lack of detailed instructions and explanations of its features. But they have excellent telephone and email technical support. I come from over 20 years of use of the Logitech Marble Mouse on all my computers and work installations. Tired of the lack of a scroll wheel on the Logitech, I tried this. Actually quite getting to like it. A lot of features in the software, apparently designed with variable sensitivity, precision controls, and profiles for gamers, enables really extensive programming of the buttons to almost anything you can think of, including keyboard keys. You need to figure out a hand positioning regarding the buttons, so as to have your trackball control finger exactly on the top of the ball for maximum precision. For me this means my fingers are at the back edges of the buttons, but that's OK as they still work fine. (They should have taken a cue from the Marble Mouse button positioning, but, hey, you can't have everything.) I recommend this product. Read more

Adesso Trackball mouse doesn't Track well.

Pepper WarrenJanuary 6, 2021✓ Verified purchase

What a shame this didn't work well. Very disappointed. Not a replacement for the Logitech Trackball. The mouse tracks up and down fast but lags and stalls going left to right. Trying to move the mouse diagonally is like trying to steer a boat. I played with all the settings but never could get it to work well. I just wish Logitech would add a scroll wheel to their product which is already superior. They make a thumb ball version but I find using my index finger to move the ball more natural than trying to steer the thing with my thumb. I had high hopes for this design, if only it had worked. Don't waste your time. Read more

Great because it doesn't assume everyone is right handed. Also cures my carpal tunnel.

RandomJanuary 3, 2026✓ Verified purchase

Ambidextrous in a world that seems to think only right-handers exist. Completely removes my carpel tunnel that I instantly get when using a normal mouse. You know it is great...because when you try to buy it they say, "No....are you sure you don't want to buy this right-handed version?" LOL....Anything they recommend is never the right thing to buy.
