This clamp is great. Clean to the touch when you first get it. Very sturdy when angling vertically or diagonal and tightening. I use it to clamp down on a vertical bed frame. The tightening works well even with both arm attachments. Only complaints id have are: 1. The ball that screws into the back of the tablet mount is simple screwed in, so if you were trying to rotate your tablet angle, such as to match a slant for your field of view on your side pillow, rotating it the wrong way with the arms locked will loosen the ball. And 2. the bottom screw that tightens or loosens the tablet grip doesnt have a quick lock. The top does with the slide, but youd want to tighten from the bottom screw primarily to keep the tablet from sliding. Quick releases or locks would help. The mechanical joints on this are really nicely secure when you tighten them down. It's tough, textured/grooved metal balls being gripped by tough, thick, clamp-like metal connector segments. It is heavy and durable. The laptop grip can hold my 13" iPad (with case) very securely even when in "portrait mode" (the clamp gripping the sides instead of top/bottom). Read more

Strong metal constuction except clamp knobs

I searched for a moveable clamp mount for my Android tablet. The intent was for mounting a tablet with a marine navigation app use on my boat - moveable between an inside nav station and an outside helm station with 1 inch railings. I wanted a strong clamping action due to the constant motion of the boat. When this mount arrived, I was happy to see it's clever design and aluminum construction that looked like it might last awhile in a marine environment. Got it assembled and mounted quickly, but found that it's grip was based on how tightly I could turn the threaded knobs, which are sadly made of plastic. To get a strong clamping action, I will likely break the plastic when I take a pair of vise-grips to them. The mount should be fine for household, office, or maybe light automotive use, but I'm witholding one star because of the plastic limiting how tight I can twist the clamping and adjusting knobs. A redesign with metal knobs will make it a five star tablet mount. Read more
