American Standard 7426101 295 Belmeade Single-Handle Bathroom Faucet Brushed Nickel

Absolutely love this Belmeade single-arm faucet. We got the brushed nickel and my first impression when I pulled the protective plastic off and held it was wow, this is heavy. This is a very nice, Vietnamese-made American Standard faucet. Perfect for a powder room or any bathroom--we used for our powder room. I've used the Grohe and Kohler "best" and this model can go toe to toe with them. The single handle is beefy and the spout is also hefty. The 1/2" hot/cold water connections were easy to connect and the the entire faucet swap took less than 30 minutes. Perfect upgrade to builder-grade units. This one also has a deck plate that you can use or not. I used it since builder-grade doesn't usually come with a plate. Well-packaged. Side note, Amazon sent me a black one by mistake, and I looked at it before returning it. It was beautiful in a matte-black finish. I liked that color best, but we had brushed nickel everything, so had to stick with that color. Can't go wrong either way--highly recommended. This purchase changed my opinion of American Standard--I would consider them going forward for either upscale upgrades or a high-end home. Read more

I ordered the brushed nickel but receive the matte black. At first I was going to exchange it, but then we realized it actually matches the bath cabinets and paint color quite well. So, a happy mistake. As for the faucet, it's very well constructed and heavy; it's not cheap with plastic parts. The kit comes with everything you need and installation was very easy. The removal of the 20+ year old faucet took much longer. I estimate it took me 8 minutes to install it and another 2 to test and adjust for leaks. One note about installation - the nut has an end that's smooth and the manual didn't clearly illustrate or instruct whether that faced up or down. After some searching online and a YouTube video, that smooth end points up. The only area that leaked was the drain. It required quite a bit of hand tightening to the point that the foam washer was fully compressed. I didn't need to use any plumbers putty or tape on any part of the installation. And definitely flush the water lines with the aerator removed. Quick tip about removing the aerator: loosen it completely and then cup the spout with your hand while slowly turning on the water. That'll give just enough force to push it out. I couldn't pull it out as it would become unthreaded but not far enough out to grab. As for how it performs, it's great. The lever operates very smoothly and the stream is steady and strong. The drain top clicks open/closed securely and water doesn't drain when closed and it drains quickly when open. Having had to replace numerous washers in cartridge style valve stems, I am happy that this has a ceramic disc valve which should be leak free for many decades. My only nit pik is that the drain and drain cover are plastic, but that's really minor. Just so long as it matches and functions properly. Overall, an excellent bathroom faucet that is well constructed from solid and hefty materials, has an elegant color and design, operates perfectly, and is super easy to install and maintain.
