I bought this USB-C hub because by inserting the USB-C connector at the end of the short cable into the USB-C port on my MacBook Air, this provided me with an HDMI output for my monitor, and also a couple of USB-A ports, and even a memory card slot. I had another USB-C hub that didn't have an HDMI port, so I daisy-chained it to this one, using a small USB-A to USB-C adapter. This seems a kludgy arrangement, with this hub providing USB-C to USB-A conversion then a small adapter to convert USB-A back to USB-C so that I could connect the other USB-C that I already had, in order that I would have the three additional USB-A ports that I need. But it works, except that it is loose. It seems to me that there is a problem with snugness of fit for USB-C generally. Everywhere I have a USB-C connection, the connection is loose, such that the connected wobbles easily from side to side within the port. This causes occasionally interruption of the electrical connection. I think this might be an inherent flaw with USB-C, as it is presently specified. I think that the specification might need to be updated to include something that will improve the snugness of the connectors. At one point in time, several decades ago, a serial buss connector would have been expected to come with some means to lock the connector in place, i.e., a clamp of some sort. But this wouldn't be convenient, so nowadays we have the more convenient solution where the connector isn't as secure as it ought to be. Read more
