We are using this in an RV and honestly the 3 inch would have been the smarter purchase. This topper is very very comfortable but we noticed a big difference with the air flow with the AC after putting this on. The person on the further side from the air flow (if using a portable AC) doesn't get adequate flow and gets sweaty. Since you like sink into this topper because of how soft and comfy it is, you do wake up with a sweaty back or side which is rather uncomfortable and it does slide down the bed pretty regularly from your movement during the night. It was a good buy in the end though because RV mattresses are thin. We no longer feel the wood underneath and don't toss and turn as much at night. It fits the RV Queen bed but it does slide down easily with movement. It is incredibly soft and comfortable but firm enough to cradle your body shape. We will be moving and possibly taking it to our actual home so we will be able to try it out on a regular bed. I'm assuming that will help with the air flow problem and the sliding down problem. If you own a camper/RV - then you are no stranger to how pitiful the mattresses are, not to mention expensive. My wife and I got the bright idea to purchase one of these foam toppers to try as an alternative. We trimmed it down to size with a box cutter, laid it in - and it works GREAT!! The best part is, when we don't have guests with us that need to use the other bunk - we can move this topper over to our bunk and make our mattress twice as thick. Super comfortable - made a WORLD of a difference for us. Not to soft, not too firm. This mattress topper fluffed up quickly right out of the packaging and had no strong odor, which was a nice surprise. I’ve been using it in a vacation rental with a mattress protector on top to keep it in place so it doesn’t slip and prevent any damage, and so far there haven’t been any complaints from guests. It adds a nice layer of softness and support without feeling hot when lying on it. I wouldn’t recommend putting it in the washer.
