Columbia Womens Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Hiking Boots

UPDATE: These were awesome for my hike! We had to go through puddles and even a stream during this hike and the water just rolled right off of these boots. I didn’t feel a thing, not even a temperature change. It was so cool. These boots gripped like a champ and it’s a good thing I had them because we did a fair amount of climbing too, which I wasn’t anticipating beforehand. Excellent boots! These boots look and fit great! I normally wear a size 10, so I ordered that size, but they felt tight around my toes/top of my foot, so I returned and sized up to 10.5 and they are perfect! Very comfortable and I’m excited to use them for my first hike coming up. This size happened to be on sale for $25 too so I really lucked out. Might buy another pair. They seem to be great quality and the leather looks really nice. Purple on the bottom was a nice surprise too. I will update after the hike about durability and grip. Read more

I’m obsessed with these boots! I’ve worn them on several hikes and they consistently feel sturdy, supportive, and comfortable. They keep my ankles from becoming unstable on slanted trails and textured terrain. The size is very adjustable and I was able to wear them right out of the box on a 5 mile adventure. I haven’t tested them on anything over 6 miles at a time so can’t attest to that, but they’ve been great so far. And they’re cute! I went with my typical size. Read more

Exactly as described, I'd say it runs a little large. I am a 8.5. Narrow heel, wide toe box, but slender feet. I always have to size up to a 9 in Merrell and Keen; this 9 Womens is a little bit bigger than those brands and I'd recommend an 8.5 but works great with thick wool socks. Absolutely waterproof, took them out in the mud by the lake and in the water; no seepage or leakage and it naturally wicks off the mud if it is in the water; it is *almost* non-stick. Not too much support but pretty decent, if you have a high arch - you may been inserts. They hurt my feet at first until they broke in a little and now they are way comfy! Read more

I was looking for a cute feminine shoe when I saw these! Look how cute they are! They fit true to size, are waterproof, and so comfortable. Although I am not a hiker, I got these for everyday use, and they are perfect. I normally wear a 6.5, and that's what I ordered. I couldn't ask for a better fit. Oh, and they are lightweight, too. I purchased these hiking boots for a trip to the PNW. Typically, I am more of a Merrell hiking shoe kind of gal, but I decided to give these a whirl. They were on sale (I think $60-$70) and I feel that price is right on for the quality and fit. They took me from hiking at Mt. Rainier National Park, to Oregon's coastal beaches to hiking in the Redwoods. For comfort I would give them a 9/10. They fit true to size and give great ankle support. For durability/quality, that remains to be seen - but I'll go ahead and give them a 6/10, just based on the condition that they are after one trip. On my trip I did do a fair amount of rough, strenuous hiking, but usually I can get my hiking shoes to last several seasons. I think this pair might last one more hiking trip before they need to be retired. There are some chunks of rubber that have come out of the bottoms already and I can see where the rubber is starting to separate from the shoe in a couple spots. Overall, they are certainly comfortable, and nice hiking boots, but I don't think the quality is that of other brands (such as Merrell), so I won't get as much use out of them. I ordered these hikers from Columbia after about 3 weeks of scouring Amazon for the right pair. I have always been very hesitant to order any kind of footwear online (I'm a see it, try it on in person first kinda shopper when it comes to clothing & footwear) as I have wider feet and seem to never have luck finding footwear that fits as it should. I've liked Columbia's products for a long time, but could never seem to get my wider feet into their footwear. However, after finding these in a brick & mortar store & falling in intense like with these hikers, I came back to Amazon to find them in an 11 WIDE (!) at super great price far less than in the retail store. With some hesitancy I decided to order these hikers & give it a try. The free return if they didn't fit tipped the scales. They arrived on time as promised and HUZZAH! actually fit my wide feet! Not only did they fit my wide feet, I experienced zero crunching of my toes (the toebox is *actually WIDE* like it should be on a wide shoe), the arch is in the right place, and I can even wear a medium to thick crew sock without feeling squeezed and still have room for my toes to move around. I *really* appreciate that the tongue of this hiker is *not* sewn all the way up to practically the top, which allows for my foot to really easily slide into this hiker without having to wrestle it on. These hikers lace up really nicely and the laces stay tied because they are rounded and not flat. In terms of weight these hikers are not at all heavy like some others I have tried so my legs and feet don't get tired. Though I haven't been in too many situations where there is a ton of water or wintry slush, so far these hikers have performed as waterproofed hikers should in this early winter season. I wore these hikers right out the box the first day for almost the whole day & didn't feel the need to "break them in" as I ahve had to do with other hiker boots. The boots are not heavily insulated, but even with a medium weight crew sock on my feet stay pretty warm but don't overheat even when I've worn them practically all day long. Speaking of crew socks, you'll want to opt in for them because I found that without them the fabric on the inside of the boot can be a little harsh on your ankle. That said, if you are on a long hike with *any* hiker boot this should be your standard dress code anyhow. Overall, really love these hikers. Delightfully surprised by them & would highly recommend. Overall, these hikers were a great find, a nice surprise in fit There could be some improvements made on arch support. While this has so far not been uncomfortable for me at all, if you have higher arches you might need an arch support insert depending on your comfort level.
