Conair Hot Rollers for Long Medium Short Hair 12 Jumbo 1 Heated Hair Rollers with Clips Hot Curlers

This is a nice roller set. It will curl your hair and put volume in like a salon blow out. The curlers are flocked with felt and very soft on your hair. They heat up and can be used fairly quickly, but it is better to leave them heat up completely. They are hot but will not burn your fingers unless you touch the metal inside the curler. The curlers are heavy since they are metal inside and will slide down out of your initial placement. The clips work well but after the curlers have been in place a few minutes, the heat and the weight of the curlers makes them hang down a bit. I have fine medium length hair with layers. I did not use any hair setting products the first time to see how best to use them. I left the curlers in until they cooled off, about 20 minutes while I put my make up on. It turned out wonderful and lasted most of the day, but the next time I will use some mouse and gel during the hair drying process before I use the hot rollers. Hair setting lotions or mouse will help the curls hold better if the hair is fine. A hot roller set is a nice switch from using a curling iron, it seems much faster. This product is a new version of an old one I had for many years. They both got very hot. This is to be expected. I will use Kleenex against my skin to protect it from the heat because it leaves a bit of a red mark. But they give really nice curls. Saves my hair from getting damaged from a flat iron and curling iron. I have layered shoulder length hair. Perfect for hot rollers. These rollers are large and give beautiful wavy hair. I just pull my fingers through the curls to give it some natural body and give it a spritz of hairspray to hold it. I always get compliments when I use the hot rollers. People complained about the smell. Anything made from plastic is going to smell when it’s heated up. Especially the first few tries. I loved the old rollers I had but the cover had broken and I couldn’t get them to get hot enough. So I decided to upgrade. I got an open box and saved a few bucks there. It was worth it. Read more

I’ve waited till I used this enough to comment. I LOVE IT. I’m 72. I’ve had short hair for 20 or 30 years and only used curlers maybe 5 times. I decided to go longer about 7 months ago so it is a little below my shoulders. It is layered and has a wave but mostly straight. I tried a couple different electric curlers some too small one to big so I got these 1 and 1/2 inch. Like the three bears, this was just right. I leave them in only 5-10 minutes and love the wave. Just enough. The only con would be the clips. They do work fine and stay on but they were leaving a dent in the top of my hair so I just ordered the old kind wire clips and just tried them and they again were just right. My sister, it ends up has the conair just the same size with the old wire clips and also a spot to hold them. I didn’t see that when I ordered but I might not have looked far enough or it might be outdated. Anyhow, it doesn’t change my review. Overall I love it. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I was so excited to try these hot curlers. I plugged them in, popped two rollers in my hair, and was living my best “big bouncy hair” fantasy… until my nose caught The Smell. I turned around and, no exaggeration, these curlers were smoking like they were auditioning for a BBQ competition. The smell of burning plastic was quickly filling my bathroom. I pulled a curler out and the plastic had melted. Yanked the second one out, and surprise! It had melted too. At that point, it was less “beauty routine” and more “fire drill.” I honestly count myself lucky my hair is still attached to my head. If you’ve ever wondered what it would feel like to style your hair in the fiery pits of Mordor, these might be for you. For the rest of us? This brand Conair is fantastic. I bought my first set in 1980. They still work but they don’t get quite as hot. I love these rollers. I’m so glad they were still available and not outrageously priced. Read more
