Curved design makes the difference
I purchased this pillow myself and want to give my honest opinion to perhaps help someone else. I'm mainly a side and sometimes back sleeper. This pillow is so comfortable for me for both positions. I bought it because of its shape and that it can be adjusted for thickness with included extra filling and 2 zippered covers. (I've done pillow "surgery" in the past to try to get a pillow to feel better). However, I haven't had to make any adjustments to this pillow. As a side sleeper, I like the curved design because it allows me to pull it down to my shoulder to support my head and neck. The "points" of the curve add to the comfort on the side of my jaw. As a back sleeper, it cups my neck and upper back and is very supportive. I have been through many types of pillows--solid memory foam, shredded memory foam, MyPillow, fiber fill, feather--pretty much every type--trying to find one that feels good and is supportive.
