Crock-Pot 4 5 Quart Round Portable Slow Cooker and Food Warmer Black White Pattern SCR450-HX

My last crockpot broke, so we needed a new one and I didn't want to spend a ton of money. With my husband and I both being blind, we also wanted something with a simple dial that could be felt. After getting helpful answers to my question about the dial, I bought this. The size is good for two people who like a few leftovers, and the dial is perfect. None of that digital stuff that we love to hate! It's shorter and wider than what I've had before, but I actually like that for when making frozen meat. My only complaint, and this is very minor, is that the lid doesn't seem to fit on as snuggly as ones I've had in the past, but it's still good enough to work. Like any crock pot the cleaning is a pain because you're juggling a heavy ceramic pot that has literally spent hours cooking crud onto the surface. However, the shape of this crock helps because it actually fits in the sink. It always comes clean. Sometimes I fill it halfway with water, cut a lemon in half and toss it in there and put it on medium for a few hours and it helps a lot. Finally, an affordable slow cooker that really works and cooks evenly. It really is SLOW--others I've purchased have been too hot and dry food out. It really takes 8 to 10 hours to slow cook in this, which is what I want. Read more

I love this new crockpot. The price was also reasonable. 2 days ago I made Mexican pork Mol'e stew which took 8 hours and 47 minutes while on low setting. I noticed that the pork meat was soft and tender with a mild smokey flavor. The broth was very savory. I topped the pork mol'e meat with fresh chopped cilantro, served with cilantro lime rice and steamed mixed vegetables. I can not wait for other slow cooked meals in my new crockpot. My mom’s crockpot stopped working. This was a replacement for one she had for well over 20 years. She said she wanted a round 4.5 quart model. Turns out the old one was larger but she was fine with the downsizing. So far she’s only used it one time to make chili. She said cleanup was easy because nothing stuck or burned to the bottom of the pot. Her only comment when it was delivered was, “Oh you didn’t get the red one that said Taco Tuesday.” She still likes it. Read more

The plastic lid on my old crockpot, which I had for more years than I can remember, broke so I bought this one to replace it. I had originally planned to just replace the lid since the Crockpot worked just fine, but a lid cost only a few dollars less than replacing the whole thing so went ahead and bought this one. I was pleased to see that this one has a glass cover and also has a “Warm” setting, which my old one didn’t. Other than that it works just as well as my previous crockpot.
