Alright, they’re knives. They’re incredibly sharp too. Have yet to tear into cutting some veggies for late evening snack so when I do I’ll come back and make a final opinion on sharpness though the fact that just touching one the wrong way was quite the painful zap shows how sharp these buggers are. Looks great on our counters and makes for an upgrade from open floating cutlery in the drawer to a unified cutlery set that isn’t from five vendors. Rust resistance I can’t speak of yet but I assume it’ll be good considering we hand wash everything. Bang for the dollar is what you’re going for with these, you’re not going for top of the line looks. They’re sterile and utilitarian. The block is very modern and may not fit into everyone’s decor. Luckily ours is agnostic of countertop items design. As it is a modern kitchen design anyway. I’m excited to get some fish with skin on it and get that filleting knife filleting! Now the negatives The block. It’s not the best fitting for all of the knives. One knife doesn’t fit fully resulting in its butt sticking out. The butt is sharp enough to be injurious, which is impressive to me because a lot of our knives the butt is dull compared to the rest of the blade. These are all near 100% usable blade area. Even the filleting knife is scary but exciting cause oh god I love fish! So. How to fix the butt stickin out SAVE THOSE LITTLE PLASTIC GUARDS! Always place one on the butt of your 8 inch chef knife (upper right blade) upper left is always your largest santoku knife. If you’re looking for a good starter set of blades to handle fish meet and run a proper kitchen without breaking the bank this is a great set to set up your kitchen with. Later on you may or may not find yourself desiring a design swap for a different handle type if the ergonomics of a round steel oversized scalpel style handle. Many people appreciate a wood grip that is more rectangular. I’m well used to round handle scalpels so these will be just fine for us. Thanks for the nice blades! Read more

This knife set is excellent quality for the price. The blades are sharp right out of the box, well-balanced, and make prep work so much easier.
