If you can get it on sale, it's great. A little squeaky but nothing a bit of wear or leather conditioner won't fix. I love the matte look and while it started out a little tight (no half sizes makes it hard to find your size), after it broke in it became much more comfortable. Because of a chronic foot condition (surgically resolved club foot), I have to wear shoes that come up above the ankle and have a large enough footwell to fit my orthotics and a brace. It's kind of a shame because I'm only 25, but Doc's have saved me from having to wear much dorkier shoes. At least now I can look somewhat cool! I've been wearing Doc's for years and I have to say the quality is unsurpassed. I've worn the same pair every day for 1 1/2 years and only wore down about 25-30% of the sole. The main issue with so much consistent wear is that the leather stretches out a bit too much, leaving them feeling too big unless I'm wearing thicker socks in the winter. Some people recommend ordering a size down in Doc's so the leather has room to stretch, but I am a true size 8 and I can't imagine the pain that would come with ordering a size 7. If you plan on wearing these often, I recommend buying in your size and getting at least 2 pairs to lessen the effect of stretching the leather over time (if your wallet can take the punch!). These particular Doc's are great because the Nappa leather is smooth and while they're not completely matte, they're not nearly as glossy as Patent leather Doc's. I can get away with wearing these to work coupled with dark, straight leg pants. I don't get as may comments on them as I used to, but it's probably because I seriously wear them every day! These Docs are the real deal and came with the correct packaging and quality assurance markings, though they are a different leather than the classic "smooth leather" Docs which may throw some folks off since they'll have a somewhat different look and feel. These are outsourced (the ones I got were made in Vietnam), but that's normal nowadays for baseline-priced Docs. You have to pay quite the premium for the Made in England ones. The soft Nappa leather means your feet will go through a lot less agony breaking these in since they already have a lot more give right out of the box compared to the original smooth leather Docs, though doubling up on socks and putting some moleskins on the back of your heels will still make that first week or so go by a lot more smoothly, and some leather conditioner (whether it's Wonder Balsam or some other alternative) will probably speed things up too. I'm a US women's 8.5. The official website recommends sizing down if you're a half size, and that worked out great for me as the US8/UK6 is a perfect fit. Still, everyone has different feet so expect sizing to be a bit of a gamble unless you're already familiar with how Docs fit for you. Read more

I love the boots but hate that I they dont have a zipper like my other combat boots they took a day to break in so that was awesome I love the matte black my only complaint is I cant just slide them on i almost sent them back because im always in a hurry and cant just slip these on but over all im very satisfied with keeping them. These are awesome boots. Was hoping I could deal with them having absolutely no heal height, however I just can’t.. sending them back but recommend for anyone who is looking for a rougher look. Would give 5 stars but they were also a little narrow. But my feet might be just a little wider than norm. I am a true size 8 ordered an 8 and the length was perfect.. hope this helps. Read more
