Good Pull Up Bar

I’ve had this installed for a couple years without any issues. It’s not very easy to remove and replace the bar from the brackets, but easy to install and sturdy. Read more

Love it!

Works as it should! Great permanent way to have an exercise device inside your home to do a pull up or two each time you walk through the doorway it’s in! Read more

Solid bar, buy the grip tape!

Solid bar! Buy the grip tape though. The finish makes the bar slippery. Without bar tape, you will destroy your hands going for reps. Read more

Basic Pull-up Bar

After years of pressing my luck using a clothes bar removed from my closet and installed in my doorway, I decided it was time to upgrade to an actual pull-up bar. I was surprised how few basic, low profile bars there were. This one fits the bill. Easy installation and sturdy. It's a nice diameter. Not a lot of grip to it, considering it's stainless steel, but I'm used to that. I may addi a grip tape later. If you're considering the other one on Amazon that's only $25 dollars, don't do it. That was my first choice and I immediately returned it. Read more

Great for Tricep Pulldowns

I found out about the DreamGYM Doorway Pull-up Bar from a friend that I use for triceps pulldowns that's shown in the attached photo. My friend uses it for a lot of other things but I like it for the triceps pulldowns because it allows my body to move the way the joints want to and really hits the triceps better than anything I've used in the gym in 50 years. it's the best

Previous owners left mounting brackets but took the bar. It was a bit tricky to find this brand since it is quite a unique mounting system but I am glad I did. Rock solid, fits old brackets manufactured who knows how long ago. Feels much safer than other bars that want to jump of the door jamb the second you make a wrong move. Read more

Works, but could be better engineered

Update: I sent it back in favor of a pressure adjustable model. But I think with engineering improvements in the brackets, it could be the best on the market. Brackets need to fit bar ends like they were made for each other. Original post: I’ll keep it because it’s the only one on Amazon that screws in, doesn’t use outward pressure that would potentially damage my door frame, is adjustable, and locks rotation to avoid spinning the bar which is annoying when I’m doing pull ups. However, if there was a similar product out there that was better engineered for the same purpose, I’d buy it. This one is so loosely engineered it’s as if it was designed by a high school shop class. The hex shape of the wall slots has nothing to do with the hex shape of the bar ends. Wall slots might as well be circular and fit to the bar. And the wall slots are far wider than needed to accommodate the bar ends, so it’s loosy goosy. I’ll see if I can find a shim to make it a tighter fit. The little tabs that rotate in to “lock” the hex end in place are also a design/engineering kluge. For $45, I would expect better. But alas, all the other products out there have their own flaws (outward pressure potentially damaging, circular ends that can spin/rotate while doing pull ups, or non adjustable). Read more
