As background, I live in Minnesota in an older home with radiators for heat. The inside air gets very dry in the winter and we need a humidifier. We have had several humidifiers over the years but were constantly dealing with "white dust". We use filtered tap water in our humidifiers. We have a black piano with a lacquer finish and we would have to clean it almost daily from the white dust from mist type humidifiers that require distilled water to avoid white dust. Putting distilled water in a humidifier for our home would get very expensive fast as we often go through 3-4 gallons a day. This year I decided to find a solution and was looking for an "evaporative" humidifier that could use tap water for humidification. Evaporative to eliminate the white dust and tap water use to keep costs down. The space we humidify is about 600 sq. ft. We purchased a recommended evaporative brand that was supposed to be able to humidify an area just under 600 sq. ft. It was not able to get the humidity above 30% and was often in the high 20's so we returned it and purchased the DREO. We have been pleased with the DREO for the following reasons: 1) it is able to keep our humidity around 40% where we like it. It does the job; 2) We have no "white dust" and we are using filtered tap water to fill it which is great!; 3) it has a filter that is easy to remove and wash by hand or in a washing machine. Because we do not have a water softener that is a great option and does not require purchasing filters; 4) it is a relatively easy machine to use and fill. The smartphone app is an added bonus. The one minor drawback is that it does use about 4 gallons of water per day during cold winter days which means I fill it in the morning and evening and I don't mind that given all the benefits of this machine. I will see how it goes but, at this point, I am very pleased with the DREO humidifier and would highly recommend it Read more

I have been using this for about a month and I absolutely love it. No white dust!! I leave it running 24/7 & other than needing to fill it twice a day itโs pretty effortless. Isnโt very noisy. It has a removable filter that you can wash which is awesome. I also like that it has an app which tells me how full the tank is or alerts when itโs low. Letโs me control it. The look of it is pretty cool too. All in all, this is a fantastic humidifier. I plan to buy a smaller one for another spot in my home. Read more

This is a great evaporative humidifier. I got tired of using a small ultrasonic humidifier that constantly needs refilling and having to buy distilled water to keep it clean. This humidifier is quiet and easy to control via the app. Iโm surprised how well it kept my living room humidified with 13 foot ceilings. I especially love the widget on my phone to easily access it. It does lose a star as some have mentioned that there is a smell. It smells like sour milk. It mainly appears when the humidifier is turned off and the wick drying feature turns on the fans for 45 minutes. It sometimes smells when the machine is running. The top part of the wick is where the smell was coming from. I washed it immediately but the smell came back after two days. The drawback is in the attached photos, you can see the wick appears dry, but the ring on top of the wick has spouts that drip down even after the machine is turned off. I solved this by setting aside the ring and wick and let it air dry. The filter can be replaced but the manual says it should last 2-3 months. I plan on washing the wick once a week to see if that prolongs the life of it. I have only owned the humidifier for 5 days at the time of writing this review. Read more

I have always preferred evaporative humidifiers over ultrasonic models. The ultrasonic models (although very quiet) never seemed to maintain an acceptable humidity level in my bedroom. After a disappointing ultrasonic model last year, I was ready to go back to a noisier evaporative model for better results. Because of space, I am limited to a tower humidifier. I had gone through two Honeywell towers (one leaked and one got obnoxiously loud) in the past few years. Looking for an alternative, I found the DREO Smart Evaporative Humidifier that had decent reviews. It was a bit more money, but I am so happy I purchased it. It has a great look and fits perfectly in the corner of my room. It has 3 speeds and you can not hear it running on low and medium - and hardly an high. I have never had it higher than low and it keeps my room at 55% humidity all the time. It has an automatic setting that will bump up the speed if the humidity drops too low. It is easy to use and refill. It works great and the idea of a washable wick will only save you money in the future. It holds a lot of water, limiting the frequency of refills. There is an app available so you can control it from your phone, but I haven't tried that yet. Read more

The humidifier Iโve been looking for! I love the large tank capacity and the fact that you can clean the filter. While it is a little difficult to fill, thatโs to be expected with this capacity. I can usually make two days on a fill on the low setting. The low setting keeps the right amount of humidity and itโs whisper quiet. Best part? No icky white dust! And I can use tap water. Read more

While it is a nice unit with great features it will not humidify as advertised. I have a 12' x 16' room (192 sq. ft.) that I must maintain at 40%-45% RH for musical instruments and this unit struggles to maintain 37% to 38% at maximun settings. It worked fine at first but after a couple of weeks began struggling. I have replaced both filters in the unit to no avail. While running at lower speeds the fan is relatively quiet but at the maximum settings I find necessary it is pretty loud. Read more
