I recently gifted this espresso machine to a family member, and it has been an absolute hit. They love it—and after getting a chance to play with it myself, I completely understand why. This machine makes excellent espresso with rich flavor and crema, and the milk frother performs beautifully, producing smooth, creamy foam for lattes and cappuccinos with ease. Beyond performance, it’s a very attractive and substantial machine. The stainless steel design looks fantastic on the counter and gives off a solid, high-quality feel. Honestly, it both looks and performs on par with our much, much more expensive espresso machine at home, which really says a lot considering the price point. The only “complaint” from one of the recipients was said jokingly: now he feels obligated to buy better coffee beans to truly take advantage of the machine—and his wife has decided she needs every accessory imaginable to build out their new coffee bar. If that’s the biggest downside, I’d say this was a great purchase. Overall, this is an impressive espresso machine that delivers excellent results, looks great doing it, and punches well above its weight in terms of value. The media could not be loaded. This machine gives you a lot of control over what is produced. If you are not an experienced espresso brewer, there will be a learning curve. Be prepared, you may end up throwing away some coffee before you figure things out. I thought it was fun experimenting to get the balance right, but I am sure that there are others who will find it extremely frustrating. Those who already have experience, will appreciate how the settings can be tweaked to exactly what they like. (On that last point I am speculating somewhat. I have some experience, but am certainly still a novice at this.) You can adjust the coarseness of the grind and the length of grinding time. It comes with single- and dual-wall filters. If you know what those last two sentences mean, you will probably love this machine. The manual does a decent job guiding you through the brewing process, and advising how to correct undesirable results. The steam/froth wand takes some time to heat and prep every time you want to use it, even making drinks back-to-back, which was a little inconvenient. And, I had mixed success producing the amount of froth I like. (Reminder: novice speaking.) Overall, I created some very tasty cappuccinos, and I look forward to perfecting my technique, so I am happy with this machine. I'm not a big espresso person. I love it when someone else makes a latte for me, but I've never had a machine before at home. I did have a short stint as a barista when I was younger. This reminds me exactly of that. It was easy to use right out of the box. I personally don't care about the grind or bars, as long as my coffee is hot and tastes good. This definitely makes a delicious coffee drink in a pretty quick amount of time. I know there's a lot you can do with it, but I stick to the simple functions. The clean up isn't that bad or time consuming. I think it looks like a far more expensive machine. I also like that it's compact and doesn't take up a ton of space.
