This machine makes great quality espresso. The settings and functions are easy to use and intuitive. The manual and quick guide walk you through everything you need After using water in any of is functions it does appear to drain the lines into the drip tray which has a water level first to let you know when to empty it. The highlight of the machine though was the surprisingly great quality grinder it is equipped with. I'd like to thank Kamron for the review below that finally gave us a "real world" ballpark starting point. The machine extracts hard at anything below grind setting 15, w/ the sweet spot being around 17. That seems the case w/ several different medium roast coffees. The crema was perfect at grind 15,16 or 17 and heat setting of 94 degrees C (machine default is 92). Read the manual to easily reset the extraction temps to experiment. Puck was perfect just a slight bit of moisture on top and easily popped out. Tamp pressure was mild as anything more makes extraction too hard. We also use the Flick WDT Espresso Distribution Tool to de-clump after the grind but before a mild tamping. Be sure to gently wiggle the handle while grinding to start evening out grind distribution. Once the tamping is done, brush off the excess grinds from the tabs w/ a new paint brush or tooth brush. After your extraction be sure to wipe the frothing head, purge it into a dish cloth and also wipe the extraction head after each use. Brush off the extraction head when it's dry. Last but not least when you turn the frothing button take your time and allow it to purge into a towel and warm up a few seconds before placing the container under the head. This thing is amazing. There is a small learning curve if you are not a skilled barista, but I was able to figure it out pretty quick. It makes fantastic lattes and mochas. The parts all fit perfectly and are built really well. There is even a hidden tool kit for cleaning in the drip tray. It's ok. I wanted one terribly badly. The single cup pour is silly; its not a serving It's a trickle. The coffee maker has a setting to make the coffee hotter; "hotter" is a 2 degree increase and if you just want a shot with two tablespoons of cream? You now have cold coffee. Not lukewarm, which is bad enough, but flat out cold. The portion size compared to the lack of heat gives you cold coffee. The steamer is pretty good and produces nicely warmed milk, which is good, but it limits your drink creativity. It's a latte or cold coffee. Its a good thing I like lattes. Read more

Don’t try to save money going with this one. They’ll say it’s on sale and that’s how they got me, but the quality just isn’t there. I’ve tried different beans, grind size, shot size, cleaning the whole thing even though it’s brand new and it just doesn’t pull shots well. I have to press the button twice sometimes more just to get it to pull the shot. It’s a hit or miss if the steam wand is going to work also, I have to turn and reset the knob about 4 or 5 times before it will register I’m trying to steam. I’ve even slowed down my pace of using the machine thinking it needed time to warm and calibrate but not even that. When pulling shots it will pressurize and let some of the shot out then stop after a second or two; and then I have to hit the shot button again to get about 15-20 more seconds of shot pull. It’s consistent with these issues regardless of any variable being changed. I really should receive a refund. This is unacceptable even for the on sale price. CHEAP. Not functional. A chore to use.
