I put this on my last Edge, but I'm selling it, and the buyer didn't want this shell. So I swapped it for the OEM and put it on a friend's Edge. Everything went on smoothly...except the triggers. Sony designed the triggers so that the outer piece (the part you press/has the color) is actually two pieces: the hinge and the trigger. The hinge clips inside the trigger piece, and it's tough to get out. eXtremeRate's video makes it look easy, but you should know I spent an hour trying to get the hinge out of the R2 button. Also the grips are just plastic, not rubber. Read more

Not too difficult but it does take some time to finish. I think it looks nice and everything works well. The 2 rear shells pieces don't snap together perfectly flush. It's not horrible just not perfect. The shell is also very smooth and slippery. I would recommend some rubber grips. Read more

New update December 2025: I got tired of this controller sitting around unused so I tried to take it off to put the old shell back on, bad idea, the "new" outer shell was on so tight when I tried to take it off, I had nothing but issues, ill show the image on how it did, so as before. I believe they refunded me for the shell, but its not worth it because I ruined a 200 dollar controller because of this shell. Just stay away and dont lose a 200 dollar controller like I did over this. Update: May 2025. They refunded me for the item i bought but that didn't fix my 200 dollar dualsense edge, their product apparently cut one of the interior cords, the controller never worked again. I lost over 200 bucks trying to install their shell that wasn't cut precisely which ended up clipping one of the little cords in the dualsense and it never worked again. Be very wary of this item, dont have the same experience as me, its not worth losing a 200 plus dollar controller on. It took me forever to save up for it and now its been in my closet for almost 6 plus months, id stay away as their customer support wasn't good, I took to a repair shop to see if it was me but nope, it was the shell that ended up screwing the controller up. It took months to get refund for the shell, but never was offered a refund for the controller or offered to have mine fixed or even looked at so they could find out that it was their products fault. Shady company, stay away IMHO. First off, I'll add pictures later. Basically, I've ruined my 200 dollar edge controller because of this. It takes over an hour and I'm good with my hands, come to find out the face buttons weren't working because the shell they provided ended up not being a perfect mold or something, idk. I broke down and took it to a professional and they said the mold was way to tight on it and probably broke while trying to put controller back together. So not only did this cost me around 40 dollars, it ruined the 200 dollar ps edge controller. Sure, it's a good looking shell but it is not worth the hassle or the chance of ruining your 200 dollar ps edge. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Also, customer support sucks, they just want you to give up on them because of their "proof" standard or something. Nevermind trying to salvage the 40 dollars you spent on item, it cost me almost 250 total(controller & this shell & not counting technician because he didn't charge me after I didn't wanna pay even more to attempt to fix). Do yourself a favor and stay away, even if you are good with your hands and do this kind of work, the parts are not precisely cut, or at least mine weren't from what I was told. I was a fan of their products and I was a customer but this has sour'd me on their products Read more

Had to replace the shell because the rubber on the original was yellowing and peeling off. It’s not fun taking apart, it’s not hard, but it is tedious. I suggest not making the mistake I did and taking apart the magnetic Hall effect sensors, cause they’re not fun to put back together. Watch a video, extremerate has plenty. I didn’t, and that’s my fault, lol. It’s not a bad replacement shell though. It’s matte and kinda slick, and things don’t snap together absolutely perfectly, but it is pretty close. I’m a huge horror movie fan, so this one was pretty cool. All together, I don’t have any complaints. It saved my 200 dollar edge controller that was out of warranty from looking any worse, and I got exactly what I was looking for. Extremerate has a good track record with me for replacement parts, so I always try to use them when I can. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I did a mix and match of two different shell kits because I was unsure which one I truly wanted.. Came down to me being a Batman nut and loving the Joker character. I’m happy with how it came out. Although through the shell swap I said to myself a million times “what the hell was wrong with the original look of the Edge controller” because it’s definitely a bit of a process. I believe the standard Dualsense controllers are a quicker swap - but the EDGE controller takes some time. WATCHING THE YOUTUBE VIDEO IS A MUST. JUST SCAN THE QR CODE FROM THE BOX YOUR NEW PARTS CAME IN. Just take it step by step & take your time. You’ll need to dedicate yourself to getting it done because it can get frustrating and you’re dealing with small, fragile parts. The bumpers were a nightmare to do. Do one at a time so you can refer to the assembled one for help.. Overall it took me about an hour. The video is a 30 minute video from stripping the controller to a finished rebuild. I mean you are literally taking the Edge controller COMPLETELY APART. Set yourself up with a good little work station and plenty of lighting (led headlamp never fails). Read more

Took me roughly 3 hours altogether to assemble. Usually inclined for this sort of thing but it’s been a while since I’ve done something like this, you basically have to take the entire controller apart and put it back together. Unlike some other users reports everything does function including the touch pad. Hair dryer was fine in place of heat gun. Also thought it was kind of silly the joystick plate and back button plate are sold separately but id recommend them as well for the complete look. Won’t knock a star because i knew that part going in. Overall glad it’s over with but glad i got this, it looks sick. Read more
