Customers say

Customers praise these boots for their amazing quality, classic style with a distressed look, and gorgeous dark chocolate brown color. The leather is soft enough to shape your foot soon, though some find it stiff and hard-soled. The fit receives mixed feedback - while some find it wonderful, others note the ankle area is super tight.

They really are FRYE's!!!

VerityJuly 1, 2015

Now I know that my star appraisal i.e. 5 does not match up with the answers to how the product fits but hear me out. Firstly these boots are amazing and I was able to get them whilst (just this pair) were on sale! Usually they are in excess of $500 and I scored them for $180 (US). The boots that I bought were titled 'Dark Brown Stone Wash' yet I noticed that there were another pair that had the exact same picture but were titled ' Dark Brown Burnished Antiqued Leather'. How could this be? Especially considering that the latter pair were full priced? I then went on to the FRYE Website and found the 'Dark Brown Stone Wash' boots... They were a completely different looking boot! Amazon had shared the same picture for two different boots (and in fact, the picture did not look like either boot: stone wash or antiqued! At least this is what I hoped when I decided to buy them! ... They were exactly the same as the boots I found on the FRYE Website! Size was a huge problem for me! I read and read all reviews hoping to find a common thread i.e. too small etc but there were a lot of contradictions. Normally I am a size 7 (in Aus which is the same in the US). I read a lot of reviews that these boots ran small so I decided I would try a size 7.5. I have never been an 8! I wear a lot of converse and it's always 7 (5 UK) but one thing I did think was I was usually a 38 when shoes were sized in EU. The 38 was 7.5 and that was my rationalisation. When I first word the boots (with socks... don't know why you wouldn't wear sock) my right toes had pins and needles!! Eventually they went away and I realised that the leather is soo soft, it was moulding to my feet! My foot fit into the boot and it didn't hurt in a few hours time as shoes that are a bit too small tend to do. The next three days however of wearing the boots constantly (wanted to wear them to bed I love them so much) I began to get a blister on my heel (first right foot and then left). Now every shoe that I have bought that have initially given me blistered heels end up being my most comfortable pair! This is true for this boot too! They just need to be worn in, literally. The boots weren't badly made i.e. with glue showing, or stitching coming undone as I had read in some reviews. There are no sizes in the boot but this is how they make them and I am a five star in love with them! Sorry for the novel guys but I think this review would have helped me so I'm hoping it will help you! Go for it, you won't be sorry! Read more

BUY THEM! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

MikeJanuary 11, 2020

I'm in-love with these boots! They are the exact color I was looking for! They have a rustic/worn look to them. I have noticed they do scuff, but thats probably my fault. I didnt buy the waterproofing product they recommend with these and I'm sure it would help with scuffing, too. I am also very hard on my shoes. I have noticed though, I love them more each time I wear them because, they don't have the fresh new look to them. With that being said I don't wear them in the rain and would recommend you waterproof if you intend to do so. I did not waterproof mine because I'm afraid it may make them look darker and I like the lighter color. MY FOOT is on the NARROW SIDE and with a VERY HIGH ARCH. The boots were my normal size and they were very tight on top around my arch with the first few wears. I even struggled to get them on the first few wears because of this. They have loosened up in the past few months and now I have no problem getting them on. If you are looking for a warm boot don't buy these. My feet tend to get hot easily so this is not a problem for me. I have contemplated on buying these boots for over a year, because of the price. Let me tell you I'm so happy I finally took a chance and got these. They don't disappoint and the smell when you first open the box....REAL LEATHER! They are very well made and I highly recommend these boots! Read more

Great Looking and Well Made

DeeNovember 22, 2012

I wear a regular width size 9 and have a "regular" heel. I found the boots to be true to size. The leather is stiff but I expected them to be. I bought them in October and have only worn them about six to ten times and only two of those times were for all day. I might still be in the breaking in phase. They are made to last and I'm sure it will takes some time to "make them mine." The front of the boot is fitting nicely and molding to my feet without any problem but I am having problem with the heel. My heel slips and I get blisters. I can't wear heavier socks or else the front would be too tight. I can't use any kind of heel strips because they come loose when putting the boots on. I'm puzzled about the heel fit. Maybe if the front loosens up a bit more then I can wear heavier socks. I have other boots that are comparable in quality (not as stiff and rugged though) and they felt good right out of the box. I'm new to this type of boot. Frye has a great reputation and I love the look of the boot and the quality. I'll update today's comment as time goes on. April 2013: Unfortunately, these boots are not getting better with time. My heel still slips. I tightened the straps hoping that this would keep my heels from slipping. It didn't help - just made it hard to get the boots off or on. This boot just doesn't fit well in the heel and rubs. I wish that I hadn't bought them - one can't wear boots if they don't feel good. Good reason not to buy off of a website without knowing how they will fit. Other reviews say they feel great - this is the only brand I've ever bought (from a website or not) that felt so bad. Perfect

First of all these are 100% authentic. Mine came in a Frye box with the Frye tissue paper and a producet or brand card. I wear a size 9, I ordered a size 9 and the boots fit as expected. In boots, your heel is supposed to slide a little. I ordered the stone color and it is a very nice shade of brown which is exactly what I wanted. The toe part is a little darker and looks really cool. I bought a black pair of this style Frye boot from Costco a couple of years ago and love them so I wanted a brown pair. This pair does not disappoint. I was a little concerned from some reviews saying they got fakes but I definitely did not get fakes. These are perfect boots. They are supposed to be slouchy so good there. Color, good. Leather, good. Fit, good. While these boots are a little pricey, Amazon was the only place with the color I wanted and compared to most retailers the price was comparable. Hope this helps anyone considering purchasing these boots. Oh, also, they were overnighted which was awesome! Read more
