Gorgeous knives, much nicer than any I've owned before. I'm no expert on knives, but I'm pro-level at eating steak so I have a ton of experience cutting it. These are definitely the tools for the job! They are nice and sharp, obviously much higher quality than anything in a department store, and they cut through your food like nobody's business. Even when you commit the cardinal sin of overcooking or buy a tough piece of meat, these babies slice through like it's nothing. They're comfortable to hold and have a nice weight to them without being overly heavy or awkward to handle. They're really pretty and look high quality, like they'll last longer than I will. They sharpen nicely too, I couldn't resist touching them up just to see how it went. Absolutely lovely, and a joy to use. I handwash my tableware, so of course no rust to be seen. The packaging is worth mentioning, as they came packed in a cloth covered box that makes them perfect for gifting. Great product, 5 stars! Read more

For what it’s worth… did a little digging to understand who and where Gladiators Guild is from. Their website indicates they’ve been in business since 1992, manufacturing hand made knives and shipping around the world. This steak knife set showed up in less than a day after ordering. They arrived in with a storage box that can be put away in a convenient kitchen drawer, not to be dinged up by other utensils. The quality far exceeds knives from department store shelves. They must be hand washed and dried or they will get surface rust. Not to worry, the rust can be removed with a little cooking oil but do yourself a favor and care for these as the manufacturer has suggested. They’re very sharp and the edge can be restored after a period of use. If you don’t know how to sharpen knives suggest doing a little research on the bur and angle of knife sharpening. There’s a lot more to it than spitting on a stone and running the knife across. Bottom line, if proper care is maintained these knives will look great and last a lifetime. Read more

Where to begin . . . okay, first let's address some of the claims the manufacturer makes. "Zwilling knives are ergonomically shaped for maximum comfort in the hand". That may be true, but these are not Zwilling knives- those come from Germany and are made by a different company that holds a trademark on the name, these are made in Pakistan. "WE KNOW MORE ABOUT KNIVES THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD" followed by: "We have been making knives since 1992 . . " (so how is it they know more in such a short time compared to knife makers that have been at it for hundreds of years?) When there are obvious problems with a company's statements, it's hard to believe anything they say. Are they really made with stainless steel? There shouldn't be rust spots on stainless steel, but I wouldn't have a problem if they turn out to be carbon steel, as you can achieve a sharper edge on that. Okay, enough of this, let's look at what we got. The case they come in is pretty nice, with a magnetic lid closure and form fit slots to keep the knife edges protected. Our case (cardboard) came with labels taped to the outside, and was taped shut. I was able to carefully remove the tape without tearing the paper surface, but there was some adhesive left behind and there was a shadow of darker color beneath each label. It is nice to have the case, but with some care it would have arrived in nicer condition. The knives were well protected in paper and plastic wrapping, they arrived in perfect condition. The handles are really pretty, there is some nice brass detailing and the wood is attractive. They look great on the table. They arrived in sharp, new condition, and will not be hard to resharpen as there is no serration. The ergonomics of the handles are very good, and I prefer this style to the chunky steak knives some restaurants offer. I would not put these in the dishwasher, but we don't put any of our good knives in the dishwasher. Despite what the tone of my review may suggest, I do like these knives and look forward to keeping them a long time. They have a more hand made feel to them than the ones you get from the big names. They are very attractive and I think they are worth what they charge for them. As you can see in the photo, some details vary a bit from sample to sample. Read more

This is an excellent set of steak knives. They are as beautiful as they are sharp. The knife feels comfortable in my hand as it slices effortlessly through the meat. The knife is a joy to use. I am disappointed that the supplier doesn't offer a matching set of tableware, or I'd give six stars. Read more
