One of the few minuses it has is that it slides on the microwave cart when you push the button to open the door, I prefer a handle but few are made that way any more. Will need to get some anti-slip pads for it. Folded a paper towel under the feet for now. It finishes with about 5 beeps, a bit much! One or two is sufficient to alert. I just try to stop it before it reaches zero. If not, it's not major, just slightly annoying. With the instant start on the first 6 digits, you do have to remember to select "time cook" before punching in the time you want (often I only want a number of seconds, less than a full minute.) Mostly that's habit from our previous microwave. So nothing major enough to really warrant removing a star, but the slippy feet comes close. Everything is readable, the reminder beep is just one beep at a time, and it doesn't leave it there two minutes before it reminds. I get distracted easily so reminders beeps are great for me. Features are good, controls are logical, not any louder than any typical microwave (who needs a silent kitchen anyway?), works just great. The light does come on any time the door is open, which is great, some brands don't do that anymore. You really need the extra light to see the food in there when it's not at eye level. Read more

I purchased this microwave as a gift for my mother, who was convinced she wouldn't find another countertop microwave as big as the one she'd been using for 15+ years. She was shocked we'd found one this large, and in white to match her other appliances. Being a GE product was a plus; it's a name she's familiar with and trusts. She's been very happy with the heating and thawing properties of the microwave and the ease of use. Some of the covering over the buttons have worn quickly, but I think that's more the force she presses them with than a material flaw. We're very happy with this purchase one year later. Read more

I love my GE microwave. When it works- it works great. There is a problem with all of them however. This is my third one in 6 years. The last one lasted 20 months. The problem seems to lie in the door latch. If I set the microwave for 1 minute sometimes it just cuts off 20 seconds into warming. Other times it says close door, and the door is closed. Sometimes it seems as if it is running, but it actually is only making noise. All of this has to do with the door- and the latch. It gets kind of expensive having to replace my microwave every two years. At some point I will have to change brands, I guess. Cause this GE model is not reliable. I have stuck with it because he cooks so well, is so easy to operate, and before it starts to malfunction you just fall in love with it. ( I have always kept my microwave VERY clean. I can only imagine what would happen if kids were using it and getting sticky stuff around that latch. Guess it would last even less time. ) Read more

I searched for this specific unit hoping to replace its predecessor which lasted 20+ years. In a world of redesign and increasing complexity which invites reliability issues. This GE unit bears great similarity to the one I had which speaks to its intrinsic quality. Ain’t broke don’t fix it…… This is a counter model or slips into cabinet. Read more
