This sharpener will sharpen your dull kitchen knives. It has as course sharpener to use on dull blades and a fine sharpener to put a finish surface on the blade. This is my second one as I wore out the first one and it took several years to do that. It is a little on the large and heavy side but that adds to its' satiability. I think it's great value for the money as one can buy a smaller sharpener for the same money. The smaller ones are not as stable and therefore do not do as nice of a sharpening job.
