Didn't realize just how worn my old one was (10+ yrs) until the new arrived. Great replacment item for my set - fits in my Henkel block. Heavy weight formed plastic handle for nice grip when using. Sharpened up my cutlery nicely. Read more

I was expecting a better quality from Henckles than from no-name brands and I got it! Now the trick is learning to properly steel/hone the “off side” of the knife. I was able to immediately get one side razor sharp - and I mean RAZOR— but apparently I can’t get the angle correct on both sides. Despite YT videos with great instructions it takes practice. I blame myself not this honing steel. It showed me that my knives are already sharp and merely need the edges realigned — as I suspected. At $15 for this 9” honing steel I feel it’s a great price for this brand name. It looks legit and comes in a proper clamshell package with labeling you’d see at a local store…..not a brown box. When I noticed that my nice 25-year-old set of Zwilling Henckels knives didn't seem sharp any more -- even though I used the original steel to sharpen them regularly -- I realized that the "file" grooves in the steel had gone completely dull. The new sharpening steel (which actually "trues" the edge rather than sharpening it: I have a good true knife sharpener for that) makes kitchen work a pleasure. Read more

I own only one quality knife, a Forschner, and I thought I had it sharp progressing tediously from 400 to 2000 grit honing stones. Or so I thought. After ~20 passes withe this 'stick' I found the newly found razor edge remarkable. I cook for a hobby and am no professional so this will serve me well.
