Very sharp and durable knives. I love the holder because it has a spot that is labeled for the appropriate knife. I never know the names of knives so it's great to learn them as I go. The scissors are very sharp and great for cutting cooked or raw meats. They hold up great in the wash and they look very sleek and professional. No signs of rust which I greatly appreciate! This 7-piece HENCKELS x Emeril Lagasse NOLA Collection knife block set is one classy-looking setup. It’s a collaboration between the iconic German knife maker HENCKELS and the equally iconic chef Emeril Lagasse (the “NOLA” name being a nod to his New Orleans restaurant). Right out of the box, the presentation really impressed me — it comes beautifully packaged in a decorative box with kitchen tool illustrations all over it, which makes it excellent for gifting! The block itself is self-sharpening, which is a total win for anyone who’s never owned a sharpener (hi, me 🙋🏻‍♀️). Every time you pull a knife out, it glides through the built-in sharpening slot, so they stay sharp with minimal effort. The knives are made of polished German stainless steel and have a sleek, modern look with a comfortable grip that feels secure in hand. The weight is nicely balanced — they’re sturdy without being super heavy. The set includes 5 knives (Chef’s, Santoku, Utility, Prep, and Paring), a pair of kitchen shears, and the self-sharpening block. The paring knife quickly became my favorite — it’s the perfect size for smaller kitchen tasks. The shears also have a few bonus features like a built-in bottle opener and nutcracker. Now, I do wish this set included a bread knife (because it’s the one that I use most often!). And I also wish it had an extra empty slot or two so I can add the knives that I already have to it without needing to keep them in a separate place. The polish looks scuffed on the blade of the paring knife right out of the box, and it has a few small gashes in the handle as well. This particular knife was also loose from its sleeve, so I’m not sure if that’d be the reason for it arriving this way or not 🤷🏻‍♀️… It’s nothing major though, I just figured it was worth noting. Overall, this is a nice, high-quality starter set — sharp, stylish, and functional. It looks great on the counter and would make a perfect housewarming or wedding gift. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — 4 out of 5 stars — loses one star for not including a bread knife in the set and for the lack of extra slots, but otherwise an excellent set that I’ll be using for years to come. I have been using this knife set for a couple months now and am very pleased with it! The knives are very sharp to begin with and stay very sharp thanks to the built in sharpener. They have a good weight to them and are well balanced. The design is sleek and works great with our kitchen decor. The scissors work great as well. I have used other Henckels brand products and they have always been high quality. They are high end knives at a great value price. I highly recommend them! Read more
