If you are looking to treat small areas of the body this will work well. If you have lighter color hair it will even work better. For more course or darker hair it will take a lot more treatments. It is easy to to use and also fits well in the hand for use. Given the cost of professional treatments this is cost effective for small areas of the body. There is no pain and I did not notice any concerning the heat from the device. Time will tell on the longevity or durability of the product but so far it is holding up well. On the long term treatment of the hair coming back that is also still unknown so only time will tell. Read more

Sis reports that she is very pleased with how the device functions. Her finer hairs on her lip are gone after just a few uses. The hairs that she had plucked are coarser and have required more treatments. She believes it is effective but calls for consistent use, especially for coarse, gray hairs. In time she believes she will have a hairless top lip. That is the only area that she has used it. It is easy to operate. Read more

You can find a huge number of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal devices on Amazon. Options started as a trickle, then came a deluge of different models, colors, and shapes. But the secret is that almost all of these are the same inside and are made in a handful of factories. With a few notable exceptions, the features are the same, the controls are the same, etc. So mostly, it comes down to a few, limited, differentiating factors: ** Does the IPL offer "ICE" active cooling ** Does the IPL offer additional filters/modes for different effects ** Does the IPL offer unusual and useful ergonomic features ** What kind of power does the IPL use (higher power should translate into better performance). Power levels are typically in the range of 18W-60W. Higher is better. This is a very basic model that only performs standard flashing, but it does use a decent-sized power supply (48W). Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal. ** 48W power supply (mid/high end) ** NO ICE skin cooling functionality ** LCD screen shows focus area and power level (1-5) ** "Oblong" shaped unit but with an interesting design that makes it feel comfortable in the hand ** The power cord attaches to the side of the bottom of the unit ** No attachments to change the flash end shape ** Rated for 999,999 flashes, 5 power levels. Operation is pretty trivial: 1) Attach the power cord to the IPL device and plug it into the wall (the device is NOT battery operated--you must have it plugged in). 2) Turn on the device via the power button, which is on the top of the unit 3) Choose the power level to use (you have five levels, and you cycle through them by repeatedly pushing the power button 4) Place the front end of the device against the skin you are trying to treat and push the power button quickly. (You can also put the device in "auto" mode, where it flashes every time it is pushed against the skin. To put it into auto mode, press and hold the flash button for a couple of seconds). There is a few second refractory periods after flashing before you can flash again. The light is extremely powerful and could damage your eyes with continued direct exposure. Therefore, you should never look directly into the light and a cheap pair of folding protective eyeglasses are included in the box. The light is triggered by sensors in the front of the device. Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a split-second (1/100th of a second) snapshot of the light (see photos). But the light duration is extremely short. You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power cord, a pair of eye protection glasses, a cheap disposable razor, plus instructions. This is a reasonable IPL device, Summary: Pros: ** Ergonomic unusual shape ** 48W power (medium/high) ** LCD readout ** Feels well constructed ** Attractive Cons: ** Relatively expensive for the features it offers compared to the competition Note that this same model is offered in various colors by different sellers, and prices can vary significantly. What I like: - It's easy to use. - The shape of it is comfortable in my hand. - It seems powerful. Observations from my experience with it: - The cord is actually a power cord and not a charging cable. It must be plugged in to use it. - The sound it makes and the bright light it flashes take a little getting used to. It startled me the first time. - The provided protective glasses do not go well over my prescription eyeglasses. But I can put them underneath my prescription eyeglasses for better coverage of my vision. I'm a little concerned that the provided glasses might not be protective enough. Even when pressed against skin the light that it emits is quite bright. Overall, it seems like it has been assembled well and is high quality. I haven't used it long enough to see if it makes an improvement, but it hasn't irritated my skin when using it. Read more
