I read the reviews here and elsewhere and decided to take a chance. I have brand new super plush carpet and long hair dogs and my old trusty Hoover wouldn't budge. The recommended vacuums from Shaw were way out of my price range plus didn't have attachments for the handful I could afford. I stumbled upon this Kenmore not realizing they made vacuum cleaners and began reading about all the bells and whistles it had and compared it to what Shaw recommended. I hit pay dirt with the Kenmore. The comparison chart Amazon has says there is no dirt sensor but mine has one so that's a bonus. It even has a washable, reusable filter so I bought a back up too, it has numerous attachments that are useful, the pet hair attachment is genius how it works and it works well. Cleaned my oversize couch and 2 chair and half and ottomans with it and was amazed at the hair and dust picked up, I'll have to send a complaint to Stanley Steemer who just cleaned my furniture last month. I turned down the suction power and cleaned my blinds quickly and easily, got a couple of spider webs down, cleaned the dusty fan then got busy on the bare floors and entry rugs which are usually a pain in the keester to vacuum. If this washed windows I'd be in heaven. NO I was not paid for this review, I'm seriously impressed and happy with this new vacuum...oh and it propels itself so it glides and I don't hurt my back. The ONLY con I can think of is I picked up so much dirt, dog hair and dust off of my 2 week old carpet is the cannister had to be emptied 4 times. it's a decent size cannister but it cleans so well, plus new carpets shed so not really a con for the vac. Give it a try if you have super thick carpets or pets. i've had good luck with Kenmore brand appliances, I did get the extended warranty on vac for a few extra bucks so I'm confident I'll continue to be very happy with this vac. We've had this vacuum for a little over a year now and, in a nutshell, the fantastic suction/power is worth the complaints I have regarding other aspects of this model. As an owner of a short-haired dog, a long-haired dog, and a fluffy cat I'm honestly just happy that this vacuum truly does grab the majority of hair, dirt, and dust in our place, including on the furniture. I haven't yet found another upright that is as effective and in a similar price range. If you're interested in the cons we've discovered... 1) Immediately upon first-use we found that the vacuum *very easily* detaches from its base if we maneuver too abruptly. This ability to detach is supposed to allow for it to be used as a canister-vac -- for, say, use on stairs -- but it detaches so readily that we have to push/pull it carefully, especially if on carpet. 2) That high pitched whine that others have noted in reviews began to happen after the first few uses and has continued ever since, even after thorough cleanings. I feel bad for our pets because it hurts my ears so I can't imagine what it must be like for them, so I lock them out of the rooms I'm vacuuming while it's running. 3) The belt/agitator reset button isn't obvious, as it's flush with surface of the base and at one point we thought our agitator was simply broken for weeks until I found instructions online. I made sure to take the agitator brush *completely out*, removed all caught hair, and put it back in (a little tricky, you'll need someone with strong hands) then pushed the "button" HARD... and it worked! So like I said above, this isn't the easiest vacuum. It's heavy, temperamental, and loud. BUT I haven't found anything that can clean our pet-filled house like it can. The canister is very easy to dump and clean (yay no pet odor!) and it's easy to replace the filters. We use a little hand-held vacuum for tight spaces and stairs and this upright for all flooring, rugs, and big furniture. Read more

DO NOT BUY! I really wanted to like this vacuum, I mean it has a husky on the box and I have a husky! What better product for all that pet hair?! From day one I had issues with this vacuum and I so wish I would have just returned it. The pet hair attachment broke after one month. I have now had the vacuum for 6 months and it has completely stopped working. It was making a strange sound as though the air was escaping and had zero suction. I took it apart, cleaned out the brush roller and interior hoses, which were super clogged for such a new vacuum. And still nothing. I called kenmore customer service- one number said they were closed, the other number put me on hold for eternity. Amazon would not offer any refund or solution. I just ordered another Dyson animal pro. from Costco (and word of advice if you are spending money order from a company that has a decent return policy! Lesson learned Amazon!!!) Also I just found this vacuum not very user friendly. The attachments and hose Extension were complicated and It was hard to tell if the hard surface button was turned on or off. Overall I’m just super disappointed in kenmore and amazon. At least with Dyson you know they have legit customer service and with Costco will honor a return of a defective item. Read more

I have 100% (minus a rug in the den) hardware floors or ceramic tile in the bathroom and with my golden lab that sheds so much hair its a daily task to keep the hair off the floor. This vacuum works great, I did not see hardly any hair left (who knows since he sheds 24/7 don't know if its new or the old hair!!!) when I vacuumed...it is a little heavy, and the on/off button is on the right which for some reason for me is a little awkward. I love love the nozzle, it is easy to release and allows me to get into those tight corners with easy. The small floor attachment is a bit flimsy but going up stairs its small enough to get into the corners. I have not used the couch attachment yet since I have leather furniture not sure I will use it much we will see. Read more
