This worked really well for grating the fresh wasabi I was super fortunate to find one time a few yrs back in my Asian supermarket. I was able to go back & get it 3 times before it was either gone or went bad on them!! I wouldn't have noticed it either except I ALWAYS scan through the produce dept. for interesting things & I noticed it next to the other roots like horseradish etc, & was like that doesnt look like anything I'm used to seeing...could it be?! Turn over the pkg & sure enough i pd and arm & 2 legs for ea PC which made me have to come home & order this! Sorry so long but it was an exciting, expensive find lol, but this grater was so impressive- WAY better than I was anticipating it would be. I purchased this product hopes of finding an herb stripper that works. The main use I was looking to use it for was for stripping thyme and this one actually does . So much easier and quicker than mincing with knife and it gives you a uniform size that blends easily into food rather that chunks. When grating garlic, press the clove down with another clove rather than holding with your fingers to get entire clove grated. I use the included small brush to get all the material out of the grating teeth. Washes up easily under running water. I like the extra length of the dish to contain whatever you grate. Compact, useful, and easy to clean. Relatively sturdy, lightweight ceramic. Probably not an heirloom piece but good enough quality for price. I had been on the fence for ages about getting a proper ginger grater and man I wish I'd done it sooner. All the other methods are a pain and don't work as well. The nubs are sharp enough that you either need to use a cut resistant glove or sacrifice some ginger. I like that it also has the built in herb stripper, which I also had been wanting to try. Flat parsley doesn't work but it should help with rosemary and thyme. Read more
