I seriously had doubts about this knife set. Until...as I was unpacking it, I lightly ran my pointing finger over the blade, and I mean just barely, and by God, it cut and made me bleed. I was surprised by the absolute sharpening on each of the knives; they almost feel German made. The company advertises this as ultra sharp and yes, they are! When I opened the box, I immediately smelled the block of wood and liked it. The knife block feels like a solid piece of wood and is heavy. Each knife has a slot to fit in, and you'll figure it out when you try to stick one of the larger ones into a smaller hole. It also has a knife sharpener built in, so that's a bonus. These are stainless steel and though the company states that these are dishwasher safe, I would suggest against it as I've had others that went through the dishwasher once and changed color for good. I have always liked my kitchen knives to be one solid piece of metal, and these are definitely that. With 14 knives, you get a bit of everything and have it at your fingertips when you start cooking. I would HIGHLY recommend this set of knives and wood block. They will last for years and not break, unless you really want to damage them. Read more

I like that this has a variety of knife sizes to meet different prep/cooking needs and the convenience of a built in sharpener. The one piece design is nice as it gives it solidity and easier cleaning. The wooden block is sturdy, uniform coloring, and slip proof. I am not a chef - just a mom who needs to put food on the table and in lunchboxes so I just want knives that are the right size, sharp, easy to work with, and easy to clean. I also really want them to look good. These knives and scissors come super sharp and ready to go to work. The stainless steel set is sleek and compliments my kitchen decor. The set comes in an attractive box with each utensil being individually wrapped in a plastic sheath with a cardboard sleeve and a protective plastic tip on the knife end so very nice for gifting.
