I purchased this sharpener for my husband to use. It is easy to use. The size is nice as it can be used and then easily stored away. It is lightweight. I like I idea of extending the life of our knives. I feel like it is good quality. The knives are quite sharp when used. Read more

I bought this back in 2019, 5 years ago. As my wife and I both are avid hunters and we butcher our own meat, this knife sharpener keeps all our blades nice and super sharp. Even now, 5 years later, I can put a razor edge on my Chicago knives. So sharp, they can cut through a tomato like hot butter. When using a knife around bone, that can dull the knife edge quickly. Just a 3 or 4 swipes through the sharpener and that knife is razor sharp again. No sharpener I have had, in my 66 years, has been able to be used on our hunting knives, they have much thicker blades. This sharpener puts a keen edge on them in a minute or two. A most amazing unit for sure. Its amazing how long this sharpener has lasted, and we use it a lot! I may just buy another one of these, in case they become unavailable in the future just to be sure I have another. Very well built with strong stand. I highly recommend for kitchen and hunting knives both. Read more

This was great (at first) for my Victorinox chef's knife. I managed to get a pretty sharp edge with seemingly little effort, I was careful to follow the directions explicitly. The edge achieved was nowhere near the quality that a pro could achieve, but fine for a low-cost easy home sharpening device without multiple pieces that have to be changed out or manipulated. Last night, I went to sharpen my knife again, and noticed that the blade was scraping against the metal frame. Upon further inspection, I saw that one of the arms with the carbide sharpening bit had broken out of the round support at the bottom of the device. The main reason I bought this, aside from the myriad positive reviews, was for its presumed durability, being mostly constructed of metal. Unfortunately, the whole thing is not made of metal. Those two movable arms with the carbide are made of plastic. I assure you, I never pushed with what I would consider plastic-breaking force. It's really uncommon for me to break things. I live alone, so I'm the only one in the house who has used it. I've never dropped it, and it's lived on my countertop adjacent to my knives the whole time I've owned it. There's no way anything could have caused the damage except regular use. The design of this device is quite good. The implementation with plastic as the chosen material in one of the thinnest, user-operable parts was a poor choice. It looks like lots of people have had positive experiences with this thing, so I hope your results are better than mine. Update (6/1/2020): The company reached out to me and sent me a replacement. They claimed they are using new materials. I can't see any improvement in materials over the original unit, but I am very happy with the customer service I received, so I'm raising the stars for this review. Read more

I have a had bunch of different knife sharpeners over the years. This is one of the easiest and best that I have tried. I have a bunch of kitchen and camping knives, this worked very well on all of them. I did the paper cutting before and after, and it is amazing how well this worked. I started with the point down and could easily tell which blades were the worse. They required a few more minutes to bevel the blade and then just a few strokes to hone and polish. I did all of my knives and then warned the wife about them. She pointed to her favorite and said it needed sharpening. I had already done this one and showed her the paper cutting test... she was impressed. Read more

It broke after a little more than two years. I loved it until it broke tonight. It is a great knife sharpener, but one of the plastic pieces that hold the carbide blades just snapped when my wife picked it up. Wasn't even running a blade through it at the time. It is a shame because if they would have used a little better glass reinforced plastic it would not have broken. It really does put a very sharp and usable edge on our kitchen knives. Looking for this same style but different brand next time. Read more

It actually came with directions. I’ve sharpened every knife in the house that isn’t serrated. Also my cheap kitchen shears. The directions clearly show how to hold it steady so no blood gets shed. Read more

I have been hand sharpening knives since a young boy in the late 50s. I’m not sure how many stones of all types and systems I have? This tool replaces them all. The proper use of the carbide blocks does the job. This small tool has an all metal frame and feels sturdy not cheap, you will be making razors out of blades before you know it. Very fair price and no stones to change or replace. I will buy more for gifts. 04/20/19 to date I have bought 6 of these, 3 as gifts. Still amazed how quickly and nicely they put on an edge that is very sharp. For max edge the last step is to very gently polish the edge to burnish it like using a steel. 04/26/19. I have gotten even better with these. The best last step is to gently, using almost just the weight of the knife, polish the tiny burrs off the blade edge. Read more
