Lasko Desktop Electric Ceramic Space Heater with Adjustable Thermostat 2 Heat Settings and Fan Only Mode 9 2

I bought one of these heaters to use downstairs in my computer room. That room has no heat at all in it. I spend a lot of time on my computer and in the winter I just about freeze to death down there. I did research here on Amazon and read many reviews before deciding on this one. I really liked the idea that it was thermostat controlled. I put the heater next to my computer desk on the floor and set it to #1 and then turned up the other knob until the heat started running. This heater put out a lot of heat, even on the 1 setting, and my feet began to feel hot. So I got a small step stool I had and put it on that to see if the heat would cover the rest of my body better. This was a big improvement because then my whole body was warm. In fact, it warmed me so well that I had to push the heater further away from me and not point it directly on me because it did get a little too warm after awhile. My computer room is a rather large room, at least 16X24, so the room does not get toasty warm with this heater. But it does take off the chill of the room and makes it comfortable. I have never had to use the #2 setting on this heater and from what I understand from reading here, the lower the number that you use, the less electricity that you use. I liked this heater so well I decided to buy another one for a large bathroom that we have--the bathroom is as big as a very small bedroom. I take showers and this bathroom is the only one that has a shower stall in it, but during the winter it feels so cold in there after you get out of the shower. So I ordered another one. Evidently the second heater I ordered did not come from the same seller and later I found out it was a refurbished heater. That would explain why this 2nd heater did not run well. Not only did it not push out the heat, it made a terrible noise. I told my husband that something was wrong with the heater and had him to compare the 2 heaters side by side and even he could tell the difference in how much the heaters put out. I call Amazon and told them the problem. I sent it back to Amazon, free shipping back, and re-ordered another one of these heaters. It was when I decided to send the 2nd heater back that I discovered it was a refurbished heater--and the price for the refurbished heater was a higher price than the band new heat I bought the first time. There was only about 3 months difference between the times I ordered the first and the second heater so there should not have been that much of a rise in price. The 3rd heater I ordered came and ran just as well as the first one did--and was a cheaper price than the refurbished non working heater I bought the second time. So make sure when you order one of these heaters that you are not ordering a used/refurbished heater or you might run into the same problem I had. Would I order another one of these heaters again? I started using this model around 2012, the power (event on low setting, my preference) also life span I owned 5 and currently use 4 in the camper, in my outdoor kitty condo, and my outside home water heater compartment. very good heater and pumps out the heat well, but this one stinks like Walmart plastic grocery bags. It burns off after a few days, but still do you really need to be using these plastics that off gas??? Anyways this heater will heat 500 sqft. if you are well insulated your house. The temperature control is a little wonky, you must set the thermostat after heater heats for about 20 minutes, then set temp control. Very well made fan and PTC, above the rest in terms of heat !!! A lot of ptc heaters dont move hot air like this one, and bietter than most tower heaters. Read more

We had that cold snap a week or so ago, and with temps outside below freezing, there was a definite chill in the air even with our central heat on. This little heater is amazing and quickly warms up the bathroom (or whatever room you put it in). I didn't notice a "burning" smell after the first few minutes of use, so I'm not sure why it lingers for some reviewers who've experienced it. The features are great on this little heater. It does not turn off if tipped over, so if you have cats (as we do) who love to play with new things, keep an eye on it and them. One of my cats tried to perch on it when I first put it down to test it out, and she toppled it in seconds. They've not bothered with it since the novelty wore off, though. Otherwise, it has dials that you twist to turn it on two speeds and to various levels of warmth. Once you achieve the warmth level you want in a room, be sure to turn the control to shut off at that warmth level and to cycle back on when the temperature falls below that level; otherwise, you'll soon be blasted out of the room with all the heat it generates. The standard warnings apply: plug it directly into the wall, don't leave it unattended, turn it off AND unplug it when not in use, and keep it at least three or so feet from anything else (this isn't possible in our little bathroom, but we move it to the center of the room and plug it in/turn it on to warm the room up a few minutes before jumping in the shower; when finished, we turn it off, unplug it, and move it back out of the way.). Anyway, it's a great little heater and definitely does its job. We haven't had it in use for more than a couple of hours at a time, so we have not experienced the plug heating up in the socket as other reviewers have mentioned. If that happened, though, we would be leery about using it at all. [Edit 10/02/23: I paid $20 for this heater, and it worth that. This review is based on that price point. I would never ever pay twice that for a freaking space heater. If this edit doesn't make the cut, I'm taking stars to reflect my opinion that this heater is not worth more that $20-25. Read more

This was one of the top 3 picks for space heater (I looked on AI for “safety, cost, and quality”. Now that I have it, I love it. I have a small bedroom and it works beautifully. This would warm a larger room easily. Read more
