I've owned 5 lasko fans and currently have 3. I purchased this for the living room to blend in so to speak. I just bought a huge mirror and didn't want a fan sitting in front of it during the summer. My apartment has central air and the insulation is pretty good therefore I don't need to run the AC all day, I use fans the majority of the time! This works great! I have it on high and I can definitely feel the air blowing on me from a little over 8ft away! I have it on top of a sub-woofer....the fan is tall but not THAT TALL...lol!!! It was easy to assemble in my opinion, and the fan is aesthetically pleasing. Read more

The fan blows air very well but emits little noise at least prepared to a box fan or oscillation fan, I actually hate it because my roomates can hear me wank :( Read more

Pros: ++Trivial to put together, takes minutes at the most ++Compact floor space-wise vs most pedestal fans, ~12" wide base ++No big fan to knock into things when oscillating, major space saver! ++Remote works great from a distance & is handy to have (easy to lose though...) ++Basically silent on low and fairly quiet on medium ++Button controls on the unit are great to have in case remote gets lost ++Button controls are easy and intuitive to use ++Not that heavy & has a built in carry handle so its easy to move ++Range of motion for oscillation mode is decent, 80-ish degree arc ++Lasko's stuff usually lasts years in my experience ++Various timer modes with ozone mode is pretty nifty Cons: --Except at full blast the amount of air it moves isn't all that high, a 18" fan does better here --Rather loud & high pitch whine on high --Remote doesn't come with batteries, takes 2x AAA --Remote holder isn't in a good spot & the remote tends to get knocked off easily when oscillating or when lightly bumped --Remote isn't easy to see or quick to grab when its hanging off the back of the unit --Remote is surprisingly easy to lose under all kinds of things due to its small size --For what you get the price should be lower IMO --Cord should be much longer IMO, at least 10ft is a must for positioning in a room, 15ft is better I'm using this to sleep with since I need a fan for that! Its not a bad fan but its really not the best for that purpose though due to the noise on high. However if you're just trying to move some air around the room on low/med and want to save space then this thing is going to be nearly perfect for you! Read more

I bought this fan to replace a 5 1/2-year-old Lasko 4820 Xtra Air Tower Fan with Fresh Air Ionizer that has been running continuously--after a number years these fans often make start making a chirping sound and I have to replace them. That's what I thought was happening with my current fan, but I put it on the middle speed for couple days and the noise seems to have gone away on all speeds. But before I realized I may not need it, I ordered this Performance 48-in Tower Fan. I was going to keep it to replace a traditional circular stand fan, but after screwing the stand plates onto the bottom and turning it on, I realized it created a loud annoying room filling motor hum, still annoying at the slowest speed. I've had about four of the older fans over the last 10 years or so, and the reason I like them is they are extremely quiet--even at high speed all your here is the noise of the air, which isn't even that loud. I'm hoping that the newer versions of the Xtra Air Tower Fans are similarly quiet, because I'm going to have to return this one, and at some point buy another one. One thing in its his favor, this Performance Fan seems put out more air than my old Xtra Air Fan, but the noise makes it unusable for me. Read more

I really like that its is tall and can produce a breeze with multiple options. The lowest setting works well in my bedroom and I can feel it without it being noisy. The remote is easy to use and convenient. even when it is osciliating it does not make much noise. The optional settings for speed offer limited to a very powerful breeze. Well worth the money.
