I have built a NAS using this brand (6tb x 12) and I have not looked back! Currently working quite well with Truenas (FreeBSD or Linux) setup as a raid10. I would recommend this brand to anyone, especially with a 3yr warranty that they have. The company has been very responsive with their speedy shipping. I got the drive for my old Optiplex 790, which I am running as a NAS. I hooked up the drive through external enclosure bay, but PC couldn't recognize, map, or initialize it. I updated the BIOS, had UEFI enabled, but Windows 10 would still give me errors trying to initialize the drive. I then hooked it up to my more advanced gaming PC that runs on Win 11 and it initialized, mapped and formatted the drive without issues. I then was able to reconnect it back to my old PC. Bottom line: old PCs may not be able to recognize drive over 2TB. Read more

So far so good. We buy these because they are cheap. I got three years out of my first 12TB drive that I used in my network video recorder. I have another eight in my media and backup server. Three years of use for this price is pretty good. They could last longer than that but only time will tell. If you want something super reliable that will last 10 years, you're going to pay a lot more than what you are here, but you get what you pay for. I'll buy again when the time comes. Read more

Ordered 2 drives, both have a feature called PWDIS or power disable. This is a great feature ***if your hardware supports it***, but renders the drive useless if it doesn't. The seller knew this would be a problem for people, because despite claiming the drive doesn't come with anything but the drive they both shipped with a SATA power adapter cable to bypass the function. This is fine if you have a large PC case, but if it's going into a case without the clearance for the adapter, or in a NAS backplane (my use) the adapter won't fit and the only way to fix it is to disable pin 3 on the power connector somehow. There are a few ways to do this not destructively and non-destructively, but they absolutely should have had a warning in the listing because people who know less about hardware will likely not know why it's not spinning up. Also, while I know it's pretty standard practice to overrate capacity, this drive reads 10.9T in both Linux and Windows, I ordered 12T. If this were up to about 3% I might just brush it off, but when you advertise your drive roughly 9.2% larger than the system is going to show it's time to re-evaluate how you advertize. Read more
