This is an excellent piece of equipment. Puts out appropriate heat very quickly to shrink insulated wire butt joints. Low and high setting toggle is nice and the digital readout is accurate by plus or minus 10 degrees Celsius. Easy to use, and got about 3 18 gauge butt joints shrinked on a quarter charge of the 8AH Flexvolt battery (not included but recommended). There was some trial and error with this being my first time using it. Comparable models in the Red or Yellow brands go for much higher than 80 bucks. Read more

I bought this heat gun to defrost my Samsuck refrigerator’s ice maker, which freezes up every 3-4 weeks. It is great for that task, generally using 1 1/2 3amp batteries in the process. The temperature control is far superior to my old B&D corded heat gun. The twist-to-eject feature for the nozzles is super helpful, and avoids crispy fingers. This heat gun has also been very handy for removing sticky price tags on gifts. Are any of these things what this tools was intended for? Nope - but I am glad I bought it! Read more

Very nice battery powered heat gun. I love the fact that you can control the amount of heat that puts out also has two speeds. Read more

The heat gun is great. It's no corded model, sure, but it's very convenient. I found that I had to use the cone attachment for most things I was working on. And I read the reviews and bought an extra battery -- I'm glad I did. Read more

Nicely built; however had to return it as it ran through a newer and fully charged battery within about 10(ish) minutes. While I thought this might be the case due to the type of device (heating element vs. brushless motor), I already had the battery/charger from another Metabo tool. I returned it and purchased the corded Makita. My use case was for heating thermoplastic material for a medical splint. The material requires more heat/time than thinner materials such as heat-shrink tubing, etc. I also don't need this tool to be cordless. Overall, I do like the Metabo cordless tools as well as their corded products. Read more

This tool is really well made. It has several tip attachments that can be ejected by twisting the collar. The temperature control is better than any I've seen on any similar device and it operates as well as any similar device. The cordless convenience of course sets this guy apart from the competition. As for battery life, I can't imagine it's going to be for very long. But when you need it away from an electrical outlet, it's a godsent. I use it primarily for irrigation fitting repairs; softening the tubing makes the connection easier while in the trench. Read more
