This is my second Miele vacuum & in my opinion are the best. If you do purchase this model do not buy the vacuum bags recommended as to buy/add to purchase bc they are not the correct bags for this vacuum. You need the bags that fit this model which is HyClean Air TU. Read more
It’s quiet. It’s fairly powerful. Carpet looks amazing. On the drawbacks, the vacuum collection bad is expensive with a small capacity. The electrostatic brush can be ser to different heights, but on the pulling stroke it swivels down digging deeper into carpet pile. I wish the hose were another six feet longer. Read more
Expect a learning curve if you have never owned a canister vacuum. I have many different types of flooring in my home, so getting the hang of this vacuum was challenging. Actually, it is still a bit challenging. Very strong suction, great attachments for cleaning curtains and upholstery. I am going to love it, just need a bit more time with it.. Not super light, the extension rod is a bit heavy. Read more
If you have carpet that isn't very low pile, this is a miracle. Build quality is what you expect from Miele but do not skip and get the c3 or M models, just go for this and you will not be disappointed. My carpets have never been so clean and easy to use Read more
This vacuum is exceptional. Miele is a well known high quality brand that makes excellent vacuums. What I like: * this does not kick off a lot of dust, it keeps dust contained in bag and has a filter so this is great for those with allergies. It is a noticeable difference. * this cleans exceptionally well and gets super close to edges with the electro plus floor head * the electro plus floor head has a roller brush bar and can adjust in height. I found that I use this most often because it is adjustable and you can use it with the brush bar rotating or not. I love how extra wide this electro plus floor head is, which makes for quicker vacuuming especially in wide open spaces. * the bags are easy to change * the vacuum glides behind you quite easily * comes with a round dusting brush, upholstery and crevice tool, and a universal floor head * the metal wand is adjustable in height * I found the vacuum lightweight and easy to carry around * love the 36 foot cord that auto rewinds with a touch of a button with your foot * I found this easy to use and I liked how light the wand is and how easy it is to clean with the wand. I found that the extra length makes cleaning above ground like window sills or furniture so much easier than with an upright vacuum. * the vacuum has exceptional build quality Things to know: * comes with only one vacuum bag and the vacuum bags are on the pricey side, I think they should give you more bags. * only the upholstery/crevice tool is stored on the vacuum, the small dusting brush I had to keep in my pocket * there is not a light on the electro plus power head. I would think there would be a light on this head considering the price. * the directions could be better, and the foot switches are not intuitive and took a little getting used to. * there is not an on off switch on the wand handle part of this vacuum, all controls and suction adjustments are done with your foot on the motor part of the vacuum. It is really hard to compare and contrast all the different Miele vacuums. I think a lot of the differences are in the attachments. You definitely want the electro plus power head which not all models have. I use this almost exclusively when vacuuming all my floors. Overall, I am super happy with the performance of this vacuum and I feel like my house is cleaner because of it. Read more
TL;DR: This is, hands down, the best vacuum cleaner I've owned. Not that I've owned a lot, but I now officially understand the difference between a $500 model and this. There isn't really much of a comparison, and if you have the money to spend, you should do it. The Longer Version: If you’re on the hunt for a canister vacuum that blends power with modern convenience, the Miele New Guard L1 is very much worth looking at. With thoughtful features, German engineering, and a hygiene-forward design, it stands out in a market crowded with flashier battery-powered contenders. Right out of the box, the New Guard L1 projects a sense of craftsmanship and design. Like most German-designed/engineered things, it has a clean, minimalist aesthetic that leans functional and modern. I really like the blend of understated looks with utility. There’s something really satisfying about the way this vacuum is laid out. The telescopic wand has some real heft and adjusts with minimal effort. The tools are cleverly tucked into the body, and the upholstery/crevice combo tool is way more useful than I expected. It parks upright when I need to pause, and it’s light enough to carry around the house without bumping into walls or knocking over furniture. One of the big winning features for me is the massive 36-foot power cord. I can do the entire downstairs without having to replug once. And it all retracts with the push of a button (magic!) Once you get everything put together (couple of minutes) and plugged in, you're going to immediately notice how great the motorized floor head is. It's extremely powerful, and I like that you can flip it on and off easily. You can set it to one of five carpet-heigh settings with the click of a pedal, making shifting from carpet to hardwood really easy. You can also set suction adjustment w/ your foot. The 1200W motor its he heart of this beast, and it's extremely quiet-yet-strong. Miele says the noise is reduced (and I don't have another unit to compare it to...), which makes me think that other models might be slightly louder. Don't get me wrong - it's not silent, but compared to the whines and loud suction I've heard from other cleaners in the past, this is downright meditative! I don't love the bag, but I understand why you might want one. I think the market has grown used to bagless setups. However, if you're sensitive to dust or you just hate the way plastic starts to absorb the scents of what you're vacuuming, the bag is the way to go. The ComfortFit bag system seals in everything, and the AirClean filter adds another layer of hygiene that's to be appreciated, especially with pets in the house. I guess they also get a pass because from a sustainability angle. They're made with 80% recycled material, and they genuinely hold a lot. What could they do to make this better? If I had to nitpick, the vacuum doesn’t have the "auto-follow" feature that some Miele models above it offer—where the canister glides in line with your movements like a well-trained vaccuum-y pet. This one does occasionally get caught on a corner, but it’s not a giant issue. Also, if you’re someone who insists on cordless everything, this isn’t for you. But I'll take the constant power and superior suction over the promise of portability that doesn't last. Look, it’s not cheap. But I’m at the point in my life where I’d rather spend a bit more once on something that will last than throw money at disposable junk every couple years. The Miele L1 feels like a lifetime vacuum. It’s smart, quiet, powerful, and easy to live with. It doesn’t beep or blink at me. It just does its job exceptionality well. If you’re looking for a vacuum that doesn’t try to be a robot, a toy, or a smart speaker, look no further. Read more
