It gets the job done but it takes a while to heat up Read more
I've used this tool extensively for heating shrink tubing on electrical connections and it is excellent for that. People complain that it drains batteries quickly but there are at least a couple of things you need to consider when you see that claim: first, what is the capacity of the battery being used? Higher-capacity batteries are going to give you more working time with this gun than lower-capacity batteries. And second, do you know how inefficient it is to turn electricity into heat? It takes a heck of a lot of electricity to make heat. This is why there are no battery-powered blow dryers or space heaters and why heating your house with electricity costs so much. So basically, don't expect this tool to magically do things no other electrically powered heat source can do and you will have realistic expectations and probably be very pleased with this tool's functionality. I am. Well, I just bought one for myself through Amazon, from a third-party seller called Goldunya, and I would not recommend purchasing anything from this seller. The listing said the heat gun was in "used – like new" condition, while in fact the item was nowhere near "like new". Numerous dings and blemishes; looks like it's been dropped, and it's definitely been banged into things. Returning for refund. Read more
