With a diverse ecosystem of 150+ devices built up over more than a decade, I find myself moving more and more toward Matter. They are so easy to include. This one also. With this footnote. Commissioned easily using Alexa. Then added it to Hubitat using the code Alexa provides. Went fine. Except, it was included in Hubitat as a device with no states - i.e., no way to turn it on or off. Run into this before so knew what to do. But, in case you don't, I just had to go into the preferences for the device in Hubitat and change the Device Type (formerly aka device driver) to Generic Matter Outlet. Then On/Off options appeared and all was great. Oh, and the Matter pairing QR code on the box I first used to commission in Alexa did not work. Then noticed that QR code was slightly different from the QR code stuck to the plug. They should have matched. One on the plug worked fine, so I am guessing, somebody with a couple of these returned them, not getting them in the right boxes. Again no biggie once figured out. My ancient Jasco/GE Z-wave outdoor plugs have begun to fail over the last year, and I will definitely look to these Minoston plugs to replace them. The LeGrand Outdoor WiFi Matter plugs have also been rock solid as replacements. I initially tried Kasa outdoor plugs as replacements but have gotten rid of all of them: they proved quite flaky in Hubitat, requiring a special app in Hubitat that periodically required resetting. This smart outdoor power plug has proven to be a solid addition to my setup. The initial configuration was quite straightforward, taking only a few minutes to get connected. It integrates perfectly with the Tuya Smartlife app, which I already use for other devices, making it a seamless fit. A major advantage for me is its compatibility with the local Tuya Home Assistant integration. This allows for much greater control and automation without relying on external cloud services, which is something I always look for in smart devices. I particularly appreciate the energy monitoring feature; I've configured it to alert me through Home Assistant if my fountain pump starts drawing unusual power, which is a clever way to know when it needs more water. While this outdoor plug performs very well, there are a couple of points to consider. It only offers a single outlet, so if you need to power multiple devices simultaneously, you'll need more than one unit. I also find myself wishing it supported a more universal standard like Matter. That said, given its current capabilities and reliable performance, these are minor drawbacks. For anyone needing a dependable outdoor smart plug with good Home Assistant integration and energy tracking, this device is certainly worth considering. Read more

After checking numerous smart plugs from various manufacturers, this device stands out as the definitive leader. Its combination of robust performance, flexibility, and outstanding customer service makes it a top-tier choice for any smart home enthusiast. Pros: Superior Weather Protection: The build quality is excellent, providing best-in-class protection against the elements. The main body has operated flawlessly in outdoor conditions where other brands have consistently failed, making it exceptionally reliable. Broad App Compatibility: The ability to use the popular Smart Life app is a significant advantage. This feature allows for seamless integration into an existing smart home setup without being forced to use a proprietary application, preventing ecosystem fragmentation. Flexible Mounting Option: The device includes a tab that makes it possible to mount it securely with a screw, providing extra stability and a cleaner installation for more permanent setups. Customer-Centric Support: The customer service is truly remarkable. The support team prioritizes the customer's needs, offering a level of service and responsiveness that is a clear differentiator in the market. Cons: Straight Plug Profile: The plug itself has a straight, bulky profile rather than an angled or flush design. In tight spaces, particularly with in-use weatherproof outlet covers, this can make it difficult or impossible to close the protective cover completely. Ultimately, I highly recommend this smart plug. While users should consider the physical fit with their specific outdoor outlets, the benefits of its durable construction, versatile features, and stellar customer support make it a superior product for most outdoor automation needs. Connected immediately to my App on my phone. I found out I already had the App for some smart plugs (I have stopped using them because they constantly would need to be paired up. I was too frustrated). But this doesn’t make you put anything in a pairing mode. It just finds it as soon as you plug it in. Then you can change the name and it works with Alexa. I’m using it to control my outdoor String Lights. I also LOVE the dimmer. The App allows me to slide control from 0-100. My older smart dimmer only had 3 settings. I love having full control over dimming amount like that. I cut up an empty plastic bottle to help keep water away from the plug from the FL tropical rains. I didn’t try to completely enclose it because of possible condensation if I had. Read more
