Overall the backpack is well made. The main compartment unzips like a clamshell to allow you to quickly and easily remove the laptop or notebook. It's comfortable to wear. I walk two miles every day (to and from work) with a 15 lb. laptop on my back with no real fatigue or discomfort. The straps are well padded and there's a thick layer of padding between your back and contents of the pack. My only complaint is that my ASUS G75VW is such a beast that, even though the screen size is 17.3" and fits the spec of this backpack, it's actually about 1.5" wider than a slimline 17" notebook would be. This means I can't put the ASUS in the padded pocket that's meant to protect the backpack. I have to put it in the main compartment where the pens and accessories also go. Add to that the ASUS' ridiculous huge power brick, the backpack is barely big enough to accommodate this machine. That's not a criticism of the pack, but a caveat to consider when buying backpacks and laptop cases online. Read more
First off I want to say this backpack is very sturdy. It is very light for being kind of big- I was able to fit my laptop and a PS3 (just to try it out) without it looking or feeling cramped. It was still a little too tall for me. One of the problems was that the color did not even closely match the one depicted in the photo. I ordered the olive green and it ended up being more of a forest green with black accents. In the photo the green is a lot lighter and there is also like a dark blue/green accent around the top zipper which was not the case with the one I received. Also there is what looks like brown leather on the front and bottom whereas on the actual unit its black and doesn't look that great. There is a strip on the front and its kind of like Velcro which makes it look extremely cheap. I could have overlooked all of that had the craftsmanship not been off. The one I received had been stitched incorrectly at the bottom making the front part look lopsided. When I put it on it looked like I had left one shoulder strap longer than the other, that was enough for me to return it. Unfortunate since it's so hard to find a good bag for 17 inch laptops. Pros: fits a 17.3 In computer perfectly as described. Two spots for memory devices and other spots for other things. Cons: As a full time student, it didn't hold enough items for my liking nor did it have as much space as I would like. Can only fit my 17.3 computer, wireless mouse, portable hard drive, and 3 books comfortably. Overall: it is an excellent backpack. It has slots for sd cards, miscellaneous cables and thumb drives. Pretty durable. It had enough space for an average person. Definitely a buy. Read more
Pros: Best backpack for a 17.3" Laptop! I use it to carry my books and personal items also! Cons: After 3 Years of use the right strap which is the one I use to pick the back up with then put on my back has began to rip and will break sometime soon. That is after 3 years of school abuse also. Around a year the front clip that goes on the backpack ended up breaking some how don't know how lol. Overall: It was a great investment and I still use it almost everyday during the year! Read more
Since this is only day one of owning the backpack I can't say too much. Though wearing it is very comfortable, reminds me to a Kata Caera/Laptop Back pack I owned a couple years ago. Well padded everywhere, nice sturdy zipper and enough room for my school books. I'll update this if it starts falling apart anytime soon. Read more
The backpack doesn't fit more than the laptop, 2 books and a charger. Didn't like it Read more
Definitely good in an urban setting and the size makes it helpful to pack extra clothes for an overnight. No problems with airport security. Lots of protection for my Inspiron. Never had a problem. I've also used it as a day pack when hiking -- without the laptop. Not quite for that purpose but it did the job. The overflap helps keep everything dry in even heavy storms. Comfortable straps and the chest harness and hip belt make it very comfortable walking across town. It would be five stars but the two side pockets seem a little dinky. They stick out and reduce the stream lining a tad. Read more
