Well, that went well. I think I had the whole thing (minus the sink drain part) done in 90 minutes. This one didn't have the facility for closing/opening the drain plug (I hadn't thought of that as I purchased it) but that wasn't even important since we have one of those clever press-to-close, press-to-open, screened plugs in the sink. I think the older tap models (like American Standard) were stronger and longer lasting (you could expect to successfully replace the washer multiple times during their lifetimes). However, ALL these faucets appear to be the snap-together type with much use of plastic. So I doubt it's worth paying twice as much for a faucet set. All in all, I'm as satisfied as I could be with what I got. This faucet set is a great design, simple to install (compared to years ago), looks good, and the price is right. I recommend it. Moen Halle Spot Resist Nickel Widespread Bathroom Faucet The day after I clicked "buy" on one of these, the price jumped from $80 to $167. After installing it, which was easy, we decided to get a second one, but I wasn't going to pay that much. So, I moved it to "saved for later" and watched the price. A couple of weeks later, it dropped to $74 and I bought one immediately (price was over $160 the next day). Forewarned is forearmed. These faucets replaced Pfister brand faucets that started to leak out of the handles (which I'd never seen). A nice installation feature of these Moen's is that the included under counter hoses connecting the spout, hot, and cold can be removed (to be reattached later) by pressing a button with a finger. This is critical if, like me, you inadvertently install the hot valve on the cold side and vice versa (I know, you wouldn't do such a thing!); and have to redo the install. I don't understand the handful of bad reviews that claim poor quality. From my experience in installing maybe 100 faucets of every kind imaginable, these are well designed and good quality. The all brass valve assembly is quite heavy for example. Yes, there is some plastic -- but virtually all faucets have some plastic parts. This review is more on function than it is on mechanics or installation. I hired someone to install it, and I don’t know anything about plumbing myself. My only comment on what the person who installed it said was that he was confused about the dual hose thing. But I’m not giving much credence to that, since he’s more like a family friend self taught Handyman than a ‘plumber.’ So it might be more of a reflection of his own lack of training or skills. But i more so just wanted to comment on Visual factors and actual use of the faucet, as that is what I know from using it. I have never bought or had replaced a faucet before. I just got my first house, and decided to do a bathroom renovation, and on a whim had to go out and buy all these fixtures and things. I did not get a chance to really research anything. And I only bought this one because the original faucet that I bought was a center set one and I realize later on that the vanity I bought could only take a widespread one. Widespread faucets were way more expensive than the center set ones, And it really hadn’t budgeted for it. So I was frustrated at the prices I was seeing and kind of felt forced to get something that was most affordable, so style wasn’t my first concern. I got this Moen faucet during the prime big day deals or whatever it was a few weeks ago. And comparatively to other Price wide sets, this one was about $30 or $40 cheaper. But I will say from the pictures online, I did not love the style. Now with it installed, however, I do think it works well with the vanity that I got, and the overall other choices I made in my bathroom. I went with light grays and creams. And then use brushed, nickel for all the fixtures. So I thought it worked well and didn’t stand out. It is pretty attractive, and I do think it looks to be good quality. I was concerned, having read other people‘s comments, about things like leakage, rust, and water overflowing. So I will say, and you can look at the pictures I’m attaching, that I have not yet had any issues with the water being left running, or other things flooding. But I also knew to look out for and be careful about that because of prior comments. I do agree that if you Turn the faucet on only slightly, the water does not push out past the lip of the vanity enough (see pic #2). Maybe this is more based on the vanity style that you get, as I know they all have different debts and thicknesses. I have not had water flow onto the top of my vanity yet, but I could understand if you left it on a trickle accidentally, Because the faucet doesn’t really clear the lip of the sink that well, that water might flow back out onto the vanity top. So my answer for that is just make sure that when you turn it on, you’re always turning the handle at least a quarter, instead of like an eighth (Pic #3). Yes this may be a bit more water pressure than you need, but it’s not even turning the handle full on or even halfway. So this hasn’t been a problem for me, and I think it’s easier to remember to turn it off like that since you’ll hear the water flowing. I’ve only had mine installed for like Two weeks. So really I can’t speak to anything about durability or whether something in the mechanism is going to fail. Fingers crossed, because this was a brand new bathroom renovation. But just in terms of looks, I think it looks nice. The only other thing I wanted to mention is that it seems as if the coating already got scratched off. In my last pic it’s the top of the faucet. I can’t tell if that’s how it was when it came out the box or if my handyman did that. I only noticed it after it was already installed. But in any case, at least know that I guess the finish Could come off rather easily. And I don’t particularly love the way this blemish looks, but I can’t take it off and return it at this point.
