This is my favorite smart outlet to put in a living room, office, or bedroom. Anywhere that a USB outlet would be useful. I have Kasa outlets on my more general outlets like in my kitchen or away from couches or desks, but this thing you can set up in minutes, link to smartthings and smartlife and then alexa in no time flat. I bought this receptacle so that I could control the grandchildren’s use of my TV while I was out working on the farm. It worked great, except there are two little buttons that allowed the grandchildren to override my phone. I cut a piece off of a bread tie and super glued it over the buttons and now it works great again. See the attached picture. Read more

I'm totally blind. I got this to replace another Smart outlet that started to miss behave as far as loosing power. A little about this plug. It had three wires on teh back of it. If you are looking at the back of it from what I've been told, the 3 wires come out of the bottom back side of it. Black, Green and White. When feeling the front of it, with the ground plug at the bottom! You ahve a plug at the top, Then in the middle on the left it is very hard to feel, you have two switches one above another. There is a little and I do mean a little divider between them. Across from these two switches is your USB A Female port. Below this are is your 2nd plug. I've been told, there are also three little LED's between the switches and the USB! But being I'm totally blind, doesn't do me any good. Also one thing to note! Is if you use any power brick in the bottom outlet! There is an greater than a 95% chance you will not be able to plug anything into the USB port at all. You also need to be careful if you use a brick in the top outlet as well being you could run into the same issue. I had someone install this for me. I started the TUYA Smart Life App on my phone but making sure my phone was first connected to my 2.4G network. The TUYA Smart Life App found the new outlet and I was able to bring it onto my Wi-Fi network. However in sayibng this, using the TUYA Smart Life App on my Android phone, I cannot turn on or off any of the devices because of the way the retailer has the interface set up. Yes I said teh retailer, Why is I have other devices like plugs and outlets that I can access the on and off buttons but cannot with this one. Now in saying the above! This does show Switch 1, 2 and 3. In this case, Switch 1 is the top outlet, Switch 2 is the bottom outlet and Switch 3 is the USB port. The sighted person was able to confirm this based on the LED going out when he tapped on the Icon that a totally blind person cannot get to. I will also say in this case, we whir able to rename the Switch 1, 2 and 3 to what they are for. We whir also able to name the full outlet as well. OK! In saying all the above! In this case, 4 things whir added to Alexa. I'm able to use Alexa to turn on and off each of the outlets, USB and the full outlet. But cannot do it through the TUYA Smart Life App. I will also say, doesn't look like this outlet will keep and restore the last power settings when there is an power outage. So at this point, I do not know how it will behave. Do to the Accessibility issues do to the way the outlet is setup in the TUYA Smart Life making it for the most part useless to an totally blind person is why I gave this 3 stars. Now if the maker fixes there interface to use an interface that is more useful for a totally blind person for accessibility ! Then I'll update my review. But if I didn't ahve access to Alexa! This outlet would go back. But being I have Alexa is the only and I mean the only reason I'm keeping it. Read more

Had it for a couple months already. Easy to install and set up. I wish the brand logo would not be on the faceplate and most plugs are very difficult to insert - feels like something isn’t quite aligned inside.. but luckily I don’t need to reinsert plugs often!
