I love it!

Okay. I admit it. I am a snob. I read the reviews on this product. I really had been drinking a lot of coffee in the last eight months. I went to a local nationally known coffee shop and bought several lattes a day, and some for my assistant, as well as bringing home one for my wife. I was spending a lot of money. My wife suggested that we buy machine to do lattes. Read the reviews of different products, and I definitely didn't want one that would involve a lot of time and energy to make a latte. I have had fancy cappuccino makers from foreign companies in the past. I read over the reviews for this product and I thought really, Mr. Coffee? How good could this be. Well I'm here to say that it's pretty darn good. It is very easy to use. I get espresso ground for espresso at the local market. Put six scoops in the basket, fill the water reservoir, and milk in the carafe, and also add some dark chocolate powder, and a couple of teaspoons of sugar, and sometimes a little organic chocolate syrup. In five minutes I have a very tasty with some nice froth. The machine keeps the latte hot if I want to drink it over a little time, let's me re-froth if I would like, and is very easy to clean up. I also like that I can see all of the parts of the machine and clean them. The reservoir is easy to fill. It seems that everything was thought out. In the morning I can make 2 cups, fill my mighty mug, and jump right in my car. This product paid for itself in two days. The coffee has good flavor, not as syrupy as real espresso, but very satisfying. Very nice job Mr. Coffee!! I have been using this product for about two months once or twice a day without problem. Excellent Lattes! You must try this!

KateDecember 16, 2013

This is the second "espresso" machine I've purchased (the other was a $30 Bella one, which worked well, but wasn't spectacular), and I think this one is far superior! Much easier to clean (not so many parts to take apart and assemble back together) and it does a remarkable job frothing the milk, at least with certain types of milk. I tried several brands of almond milk and found that the Trader Joe's and Kroger Simple Truth brands worked really, really well! You get a ton of foam, which I love! My only complaint about this machine is that you are not pulling real "espresso" shots, and that it is supposedly more like coffee than it is a shot or two of espresso going into your drink. I don't seem to notice much of a difference in taste, though, or at least not enough to bother me terribly... and this is coming from a former Starbucks snob (and once employee). If I'm in the mood for more of an espresso/coffee taste (and less of a milky drink), I simply add more ground espresso to the filter. Because of this, I probably use a lot more ground espresso (or finely ground coffee) than I would if I was using a real espresso machine that pulled a real shot of espresso. I do notice I go through my ground espresso much quicker than I had been using my Bella machine, which isn't ideal, but I know I just have to be more on top of buying my espresso beans. (I'm sure I'm still saving boatloads of money using this machine every morning than I would if I were I shelling out money at Starbucks for my lattes there). I think the overall taste, practicality, and ease of use are still so impressive here! I'm very, very pleased with my purchase. Great price on Amazon, too!!! Definitely give this a shot - you'll be happy you did. Read more

Way better than I expected!

I especially love the $45 price i paid for a used-like new product, that came in original packaging! So far all of my family and friends love it too. I'm hoping to find a similar deal in time for my daughters birthday. I totally love that I get to choose the ingredients, so now our drinks have no high fructose or modified anything. Recipes abound on the internet, and ice cream toppings can often be found made from real food items. Ice cream toppings make great flavorings at half the price of the usual caramel and chocolate type sauces. My favorite barista gave me a tip, to tap down the coffee grounds, and I am so glad she did. It makes a creamier cup of Joe. I personally use almond milk, and make 2 cups at a time. The other day I made one cup for my step daughter, and used cows milk. I has never seen such froth. The pot was full. She said it was the best coffee she has had. Dearest husband drinks no coffee and he loves the frothy hot chocolate I make him. I make little steamers for my wee one, and it gets her milk intake up a good bit! I need to get to costco to buy to go cups in bulk. Everyone wants to leave with one. The neighbor ladies like it when I take them lattes when I see them outside mornings. ( I don't think they've even noticed the almond milk) I also want to check out Trader Joes for ice cream toppings. My hope is that they have a good selection of real food toppings. Winco carries Mrs. Richardsons, but only in a few flavors. Hmm, maybe I should look for those on here too. Personally, as a cheapskate, I think this is a great thing, for maybe up to $50. It may well be worth $70 to you. It really is a remarkable machine. I'm now on the hunt for a Mr Coffee Frappe maker for $40. What a treat it would be to make blended drinks for my folks who like those. UPDATE: 7/29/13 I did get one for my daughter! Her birthday is tomorrow, and I gave it to her today, with a permanent filter. She was very excited. She has had many of my concoctions, and had made one herself for her and her boyfriend. I still love mine too. I'm getting better at making more concoctions. Hopefully in a week or so I will finally make it to Trader Joes. I've found fairly easy looking carmel recipes, but I hate candy making more than anything else there is to do in a kitchen. There are to many steps to make this easy for me when groggy me gets up. I now make lattes a good while after I have breakfast. On Mondays I still head back to my favorite coffee drive thru for the $2 any 16 oz. special. Partly for the baristas though. I like them a lot too. I highly recommend this little marvel. Oh, and have I mentioned that it is really attractive. Sorry if this is a little hard to read.
