So, these are really sharp. So sharp, in fact, that my wife and I have both sliced ourselves a couple of times. As long as you're not as clumsy as we, these knives are a terrific value. They feel sturdy in the hand. The handles are solid and fit perfectly. They are heavy, which I love. You feel like you've got a strong tool in your hand when you use them. Additionally, I love the design. The pattern on the blades is very cool. In just a couple of months, I've used every knife in the block. I bought these knives and they're very sharp and very distinctive. The Damascus is definitely unique and real. The quality is there and they're really nice in and out of the block. The block is also very nice and the set is beautiful. Sadly, I had to return them because the steak knives, the handles were just a smidge too short and it felt awkward and uncontrolled. ...nothing like holding a extremely sharp knife, cutting steak and it slips and accidentally cut yourself. Not a fan of the medical industry these days, so anything i can do to avoid thqt place/industry, i will. Anyway...So, these were returned, as hard as it was (like a bad breakup), and I'll be ordering another set from Nanfang, Damascus of course, except no steak knives in the set this time. Great knives - all of them. The larger handled knives were exceptional in both feel and performance, to include control. Now.. I just need to decide which set from Nanfang I'll replace this return with? Maybe the same one or perhaps the grey as that's quite sharp looking but im leaning towards the black block set, so we'll see.. Read more

Love this set!! Knives come SUPER sharp and ready to use. Block is nice and sturdy. Great addition to any kitchen. Make sure you hand wash the knives after each use and putting them in the dishwasher will not only dull the blades, but may also leave spots depending on your water. I had a set of Henkels and I like that set and used it for more than 5 years. But it was time for an updated set and the value for this set with all the pieces is great! The scissors cut through chicken bone without problems. I'm a huge fan of the Santuko, the Chefs, and the pairing knives. Been using for 6 months and have not had to sharpen them yet. Great set!! I’ve never really been prone to buy expensive knives. I’ve always felt that the $20 set from Costco seemed to do the job just fine. Besides, if something happened, I could just go back and get another set. Well, my husband got me these knives for Xmas (with some prodding from me) and I was ready to give more expensive knives a chance. Of course if you wander through the knives section at Williams Sonoma you’ll see that these are, comparatively speaking, still inexpensive knives. Well, the knives arrived today and I couldn’t be happier. They have that layering seen in good knives and weapons, they are balanced nicely, they are sharp - boy are they sharp - and they’re nice looking. I’m pretty happy so far, but let’s see what happens after some time using them. I need to look to see what the warranty is on these knives, I never checked and that might be important and certainly important when selecting a knife set like this. But, back to the point, the knives seem to be very good quality and they are being sold at a good price compared to this quality elsewhere. Read more
This knife set is fantastic! They are very sharp. They are real Japanese Damascus Steel Made. They cut very easily with little effort. The included sharping rod works well, I've used it on another older cheaper knife I have that was very dull. I spent maybe 20 mins sharpning. It wasn't completely sharp yet. But made improvement. I spent another 20 mins later on and it's like a new knife now. The other knives have been used a few times already and they hold a edge really well. Of course your need to clean these knives after use and dry fairly quickly to avoid rust. And put light oil on them. I would say one a week. I use flack seed oil just because that's what I use on my griddle gril. You can use veggie oil. or what you prefer. Taken care of properly this set will last as long time. Read more
