I have had some vision issues working with small numbers and with new glasses, still couldn't read some documents without a hand held magnifying glass. Most of the "free standing" ones lasted a few months and had their limitations. I had used one of these years ago for fine needlework but my sister was using the one we had so I found this, ordered it and am so glad I did. Very flexible in the positions and completely adjustable to fit at my desk, by my chair or even standing! The lights are very bright and several choices with the dimmer. It's very sturdy and easy to move with heavy duty castors. The base is wide but this makes it very stable. I am a heavy crafter who often changes the kind of craft I am working on and I always need a bright, none yellow lighting to do said craft. I have used many styles of lights for this purpose over many years. I struggle to find the right light for the task each time sometimes ending up rigging up a light to somehow fit in order to at least improve the area I am working in. I am usually unhappy with what I end up with but, end up settling. I saw this floor light and figured I'd give it a try just because it had wheels and was very adjustable both in angle and strength of light OMG am I glad I took a shot on this lamp! This Light is heavy duty, bright, mobil, and fantastically positionable! I love it!!! If I had to say one thing I didn't like...it would be that the bulb is not replacable. It seems wasteful to have to buy a whole other light when this one fails. I' rather have the option for buying just a new bulb. Otherwise well made and well a orth every penny it costs!! Read more

My house doesn't have good lighting, and when trying to sew, with bad eyesight, I just can't see. When I thread a needle, I have to get out of chair and go to kitchen under the light to see and after several attempts with reading glasses on, I get it. Well with this beauty sitting right next to my chair, nice lighting and a magnifying glass, I threaded my needle on the first attempt! This unit is very sturdy and appears to be substantially built. When I searched for this item I was looking for a weighted unit to be situated in one place to do my fine sewing projects and black on black projects. The light is bright and adjustable from project to project. This is not the first magnifying light I have bought. The others were unstable and ruined table tops. They were flimsy and did not last long. There was nothing on the website to indicate where the lamp was made but said the company was ‘American’. The light (and all others I researched were made in China. I have been trying not to buy Chinese products. So I was miffed when on the bottom of the lamp was ‘Made in China’. On a sad note - there is no choice with a lot of specialty items. There is a good guarantee (3years). I am hoping it will give me great service for many years and I will adjust my opinion if it gives me trouble. The lamp came with a tiny little piece of paper with drawings on how to assemble. No words and I needed the light to see the instructions. There were bits in the package of nuts and bolts that I could not figure out.
