I had a hard time sharpening my Opinel pocket knife by hand using a sharpening stone. This tool makes it really easy to sharpen a pocket knife, or any knife, because it's auto-adjusting. I did find I needed to use a decent amount of pressure though, and the base is a little awkward to grip. Read more

I bought one of these directly from Opinel, in order to get the real article and not some reject from a third party vendor. I used it according to the instructions and it tore gouges through the edge of my No. 8…just as some other reviews have described. I had to resharpen with stones!
