I’ve been using Meross smart switches for a while now and couldn’t be happier with how well they perform. I originally purchased two switches, both of which worked perfectly and integrated seamlessly with my smart home setup. Their reliability and ease of use inspired me to purchase a third switch for a future project involving a custom rail with integrated rope lighting. It took some time before that project was completed, and when I finally installed the third switch (which had been new and unused in its box), I discovered that one of the outlets wasn’t functioning. The other two worked fine, but the middle outlet was dead. I contacted Meross support and was assisted by Lydia, who was incredibly helpful and understanding. Even though the switch was technically out of warranty, she reviewed my video showing the issue and approved a replacement. That kind of customer service is rare these days, and it really shows how much Meross stands behind their products. I’ve since ordered a fourth switch for my upcoming back patio setup. I highly recommend Meross to anyone looking for smart home devices that are reliable, easy to install, and backed by excellent customer support. To avoid any issues with a possible defect, I do recommend connecting and testing your switch as soon as you receive it to make sure it’s functioning properly—especially if you plan to store it for a while before using it, like I did while waiting to finish my project. I’m still waiting for my replacement switch to arrive in the mail, but the fourth switch I recently ordered for my upcoming back patio setup has already arrived and works perfectly. Based on my experience, I’m confident the replacement will perform just as well as the others. We’ve been using this smart plug to control lighting throughout our 10-acre property, and it’s been a total game changer. Setup was quick, and it connected to Alexa without any issues. Now we can just say “Alexa, turn on the patio lights” and boom—done. No walking out in the dark or fumbling for switches. It’s reliable, responsive, and handles outdoor lighting just fine (we keep it covered and out of the elements). I especially love that I can schedule lights to turn on in the evening or control them remotely if we're away. For anyone managing multiple lights around a larger property or just looking for convenience at home, this smart plug is absolutely worth it. We’ve had zero issues so far—and as a busy family of 7, anything that makes life a little easier is a win in my book. Read more

This is an update, written on December 10, 2025 regarding the reversed polarity issue that I uncovered and have described below in my original review. I reached out to Meross (both their technical support and their marketing divisions, to point out that I had now purchased two (2) consecutive MSS630 3-outlet smart plugs that had reversed polarity in their wiring. i.e. the positive and neutral wiring was reversed. The negative line is actually hot. This is a potentially dangerous condition on several levels and, when I explained what I had uncovered, they set out to investigate. Meross got back to me the next day and acknowledged that they discovered "an issue with some MSS630 units of a batch where incorrect installation during assembly could have caused this problem." Meross then set-out to correct the issue with me and sent me a correctly wired MSS630 directly from their headquarters at no charge. The replacement unit was wired correctly and Meross demonstrated their commitment to providing the best product experience and customer care experience that one could hope for. I've been using a number of Meross Smart Devices for several years now in critical areas like the garage doors, landscaping water features, and landscape lighting and have always appreciated their quality and the fact that they integrate quite seamlessly with my Smartthings home automation environment. It's always good to know that a company that you invest in will stand behind their products and will look out for your best interests. Well done, Meross! The original review starts here... I've used a number Meross smart devices over the past 5 years and have always been quite satisfied. Recently, The outdoor smart plug, model MSS630 that had been operating daily for 4 years died on me. My solution, of course, was to replace the unit with the same device. I expected an easy setup, but it was problematic. It took multiple attempts to get it to connect but if finally did. The indicator light on the top of the plug seemed stuck on all green, never changing with the selection of the switch. After ordering a replacement unit and finding that, too, was similarly defective, I reached out to their tech support I took out my line tester and was dumbstruck to see that the internal wiring was reversed! The neutral wire was actually wired to the HOT line! This is a potentially dangerous situation and I am returning the product immediately. The photos show what's going on. 1. Tester plugged directly into the house outlet showing correct wiring polarity. 2. Tester plugged into the Meross Smartplug with power switch off showing a HOT neutral. 2. Tester plugged into the Meross Smartplug with the power switch on showing REVERSED wiring. I'll be double checking the replacement unit for sure. If that one has the same problem it would indicate recall time for Meross! Read more
